well after last nights games we have 4 of the usual suspects in the semi finals with a possible repeat of repeats in the final. just another game i,ll swerve. eventually the FA Cup will have a similar 4 semi finalists with the same interest from me. surely the supporters of AFC Armchair are going to get fed up eventually.

As was said by one of the pundits last night the renewed interest is more about getting some silverware to keep the manager in a job.

You have to love premier league players.

Get paid millions of pounds for a dream job.

Get all the money, housing, cars and women they could ever want.

Yet are now whinging that they have to play two games per week.

Heard some Prem players on the radio last night when a fireman phoned in to say emergency workers are working seven days a week to cover their jobs so why the griping.... to a man the players said there was no comparison as playing three games a week over the holiday period meant they were being pushed to the limits of endurance.
Really...... an A&E doctor working seven days a week will be under far more pressure than some player any time.
One manager complained ‘we are being expected to play Sunday, Wednesday then the weekend again......’ Hang about .. in the league it’s normal for Pools play at the weekend, then have a mid week game and play again at the weekend isn’t that quite normal sctatchinghead ....no s made, no giant squad to use, just normal practice for decades past.
Premiership or Premier-donas?

All you were hearing on SSN was covid, 3 games to be played blah blah blah. Isnt the Premier league the worst in europe for players getting the jab. Possibly they could of had the jab and avoided covid and games getting called off.
Back in the day the pitches were like farmers fields, players didnt have conditioning coaches and god knows what else and the players back then got on with it.

Regarding the pitches, was watching one of the old 70’s matches on the telly and the pitch was coiffured mud with four green triangles in each corner...and it was still enterta8ning... must have had some stamina them players.

thing is that this is nothing new in football. the difference is players got on with the job without people barking on about tiredness. if someone tells us that we look tired you instantly feel tired ourselves. if they were paid per game they,d be happy to play 7 days a week. if the money was right.

Over the years I have gone from having an active interest in the the Premiersh*t to indifference to venomous contempt.

The players are a bunch of self centred drama queens surrounded by sycophants who indulge their every whim.

I wonder what Jack Charlton would have said if one of his players complained to him about playing two games a week.

the ex premier league supporting son of a fellow referee put it in a nutshell. i can go to walsall on my own, its far cheaper and ALL the players will speak to you with a smile on their faces. what a difference to those super stars you see wired for sound or playing with their tippy tappy woth a scowl on their faces when you see em getting off the team coach.

With you all the way. Particularly like "venomous contempt" sums up my attitude entirely. I also feel the same about the England national side.

I'll tell you what Jack would have said.

"Rather than play two games of football a week, you could spend your working week down a hole in the ground, digging coal, for a fraction of your footballing salary. Get real. You obviously don't know how lucky you are."

Or Brian Clough. I'd imagine he would come up with some good replies

The key word the poor players kept using was ‘exhausted’...they’ obviously haven’t experienced work in the real world.

cutting out those extended warm ups before the games might help. could be the reason why we have had a few players even recently who struggle to get through 90 minutes and a few that might pace themselves to get through a game.

£50K a week there's an understatement if you believe media talk Ronaldo current deal is £550K a week. The poor on the pitch teams may be paying your figure but very few of the decent to good wont be paying that little compared to the bigger figures being paid. Newcastle could well be paying lot in loan figures and wages come next week. The way they were run under the previous regime will give them something like (media talk again) £600 million to spend without breaking FFP.

had a mate like that who became a pro footballer and was the best man at one of my weddings. the ex crewe, halifax, preston and stockport forward vernon allatt. he used to get more than a little annoyed by his team mates at the clubs he played at for their attitudes both on and off the pitch who had known nothing but football after leaving school.

They only play 38 league games a season most of them will miss 4 or 5 games at the very least through rotation, a few will miss games through injury and suspension, I reckon most of them play 25 max league games, I used to do a sport where I'd compete two to three times a week, a much tougher sport than football, I can never ever remember complaining about what I had to do I loved it. These managers complaining are taking the piss out of the fans with their comments, yet never complain about playing on Europe.

they should try playing in top class tennis tournaments like the wimbledon one. cannot stand watching the sport but some play a game of over 4 hours duration and if they win they can play another in a couple of days time. in these games they cannot hide for a few minutes to get their steam back up. its a good job that the premier league managers do not run tennis it would be a wimbledon 2 month rather than a fortnight.
