How are you lot up there managing with kids football and the Sunday League. Has it commenced and if like me its games are going ahead without changing rooms. Cannot see that lasting once winter kicks in with perma rain we get in the bradford area.

it's going ahead but with a load of restrictions in place: -

everyone on bench must wear face masks
no spectators
no changing on side of pitch (supposed to turn up kitted)
track and trace forms (and app) for all of the match day squad
no changing rooms (they have just added portaloos now for toilet access)

can't see it lasting much longer before they shut it down

yes there is supposed to be no spectators with us, but how can anyone do this on public parks. we can still change at the side of the pitch but no toilet facilities at all. its only a matter of time before some copper comes sniffing about and doing everyone for having a slash in the bushes. that would not be the first time that happened to my experiance.

It brings back memories of the 50s - 60s for me when we changed at the side of the pitch leaving your clothes on the grass no matter what the weather. At the end of the game when the pitches were a quagmire you were thick of mud and many a time I would just fling my trousers over the handlebar of my bike and ride home. No tracksuits them days and even worse we didn’t even have a bathroom.
By the way in all my time visiting the Rec and Grayfields I never saw a copper do anyone for having a slash which was quite common especially at half time, me included.

Apart from the changing rooms thing its not that different TBF.

Just gotta turn up in your gear ready to play, not ideal with the winter games coming up but its either that or no footy at all.

Granted not football but same sort of level.... for us playing cricket in the summer it was similar in that we were asked to turn up uniformed up, but obviously we had to get padded up and whatever so we had access to changing rooms on a one in one out basis which was fair enough, again not too dissimilar. We didn’t have too much rain to contend with but that would’ve been interesting if it pissed it down and we couldn’t go into the changing rooms. Not ideal but it got us back out there.

Played at Seaton a couple of week back and there were still a few kids footy games going on on the pitches next to us and there seemed to be plenty of spectators there so I’m guessing they haven’t restricted that, although with kids I suppose they have to allow a parent or guardian.

Me and another bunkerite had a decent night at Easington v Redcar Athletic last night, a perfect evening for football, cool, perfectly still, full moon evening and decent game, 4-1 to Easington, crowd 150

been thinking about adopting a local lower league side whilst this is going on. its not as if we are not used to watching football of a poor standard.

Would have to be BPA surely? or others could be Farsley Celtic, Guiseley, Brighouse Town or Ossett Albion

I'm so envious Ron, would have swapped that for an afternoon of painting skirting boards and no match any day banghead
