My big brother had got Forever Changes when it first came out and the first time I heard Alone Again Or I was hooked. It is one album I never tire of hearing :sweeeet:

The late lamented Arthur Lee RIP

Spot on, it's the one album that I can listen to over and over again.

There's so much to that album...

The musical arrangements, the lyrics...

If you listen to You Set The Scene it takes you on a musical journey. If you played the middle of the song and compared it to the beginning of it, you wouldn't think it was the same song. But it takes you on a journey and it fits perfectly.

That's genius.

Mind blowing.

We've had this on the board before and although I admit Forever Changes is a great album you cant afford to not mention some of the most ridiculous lyrics ever put to record. And being drug addled is simply not a good enough excuse.
Still, it remains a great album despite this.
I prefer the "Love" album personally, perhaps because I played Forever Changes too much about fifteen years ago. Love is a tremendous album (with the exception of a woeful cover of Hey Joe) and has a bit more bite to it.

Sooner have The Dead myself - as good as young Lee was. Workingmans/American Beauty on my i-Pod all the time. Turn they're hand to owt that Dead lot and delivered for years. Discovered 'em too late to see 'em unfortunately but they was a top act and that's for sure. Also prefer The Doors and my absolute faves The Velvets who 'changed' the course of music 'for ever'.
