Can Derwent answer;

1) why he deleted posts for nothing even not involving me but I think it’s wrong as a mod

2) why he tried to ban people for nothing as well

When he had answered these and not only a maverick was of not answering at all I think we can move on and return to normal and be grown ups

I wasn't going to get involved with this because no matter what I say it will be jumped on.

I didn't ban anybody for nothing and I didn't delete any posts for nothing. My actions were questioned by the owner of the board, the guy who I'm answerable to, my explanation was given and was accepted. Subsequently after discussion we agreed that we would try and calm the situation down. Threads were moved, not deleted and the board was shut down to make for reflection. For some time now I have advocated following Mr Fatman's advice and even created a thread to discuss it. Some posters have said that we should draw a line under the abuse and be a bit more respectful, both Mr I and myself have adopted the same stance but others don't appear to want to do that and would rather continue with the name calling. Calling someone an idiot is name calling and it is abusive. I don't wish to get involved with that anymore and have stopped getting involved with it. If other people want to perpetuate and inflame the situation then that is their choice but we all know where that will lead us. There you are Mr Compo, I've answered your question and now, as you say, we should move on. I underline that sentiment and say we have to move on.
No posts need to be censored or posters banned if a more respectful approach is adopted. I am adopting this stance in spite of any provocation that may get thrown my way. All I ask is that others give it a try also.
I really have nothing more to say on the matter.
