And for the record we are the 22nd largest country. Somewhat disproportionate isn't it?

The real figure is apparently in excess of 45,000.

Three cheers for Boris.

You'd get rid of the military planners who are orchestrating the army's contribution to the fight against this virus?
Would you get rid of all external experts and rely on politician's knowledge of specialisms?

Its good to see the army used for what it should be for used for ,helping protect us , rather than protecting Capitalism and those who make lots of money from it. Its good that they are helping save lives rather than planning to end them.

Nice side-step Horden. Almost a Cruyff turn.

I seriously hadn't noticed but two points spring to mind;

The leverage of the media has dropped dramatically over the last couple of years and even more so in the last couple of months. I think you might be overestimating Murdoch's current influence.

If Boris Johnson's career has proved one thing beyond doubt its that he's unique in being immune to the effect of bad publicity.

Let's see on that last bit. 20,000 deaths on his watch might alter that.

If he was responsible then yes but he isn't and no amount of histrionics from the leftwaffe will change that fact.

He is responsible for thousands of those deaths.

These were his words on February 3rd;

“There’s a risk that new diseases such as #coronavirus will trigger a panic & a desire for market segregation that go beyond what is medically rational to the point of doing real & unnecessary economic damage.”

He hasn't done more than two weeks work in any given month since he took over. Will probably string the sick leave out till his paternity leave kicks in.

This all sounds very like the diatribe pre the recent landslide election that consigned Corbyn's Labour party to history.

No it's a response to 20,000+ deaths on his watch. In case you hadn't noticed.

I’m over Corbyn losing and leaving, you need to get over it too, Mr Johnson is a coward, I don’t understand why you stick up for an absent Prime Minister, who has hidden himself away, mind you he’s not as bad as your other hero, the draft dodging bleach peddler

Sadly for Johnson and Co, Keri Starmer will tie them up in knots, I mean did you see the look on his face when asked Raab the most basic things in PMQ’s? He looked like my sisters dogs when you show them a card trick

The WHO are now saying that theirs no evidence to suggest that you’re immune once you have had the virus which is both terrifying and depressing.

Herd Immunity is looking cracking though isn’t it? Cheers Dom and Boris.

Dropped over the past couple of years, of course it has, and I’ve just shagged the Queen

Even now the front pages of the majority of the murdoch rags are concentrating on shite like getting footy back on, getting us drones back to work, for Christ sake a few weeks back they were blaming Barnier for giving Johnson CV19

I'd add caution to that statement though. I don't believe they are saying that you won't be immune once you've had the coronavirus, just that there isn't enough evidence right now to definitively say that you will be immune. There's a subtle difference.

Given the recent "immunity passports" idea that has been floated about recently, I'd guess that they are just trying to dissuade governments from acting too hastily before more is known about the virus.

It really happened here. There's a duck pond down the road, a natural one, not a park. A favourite stopping place for people with kids.
The population started gradually dwindling and when it got to about two, people started asking questions.
To be fair there wasn't a big sign saying "¡Se prohíbe tomar los patos!"

Well there was no quarantine at the time so it wasn't to have a pet to go out for a walk with.

There was one strain when this kicked off in China with has 7 days symptom rate then this changed to the second strain which was 14 days which was prevalent in Europe mainly Italy. Fortunately it’s a virus unlike HIV which how it works you can you can find a vaccine for but it takes time but herd immunity for the at risk group won’t work as it attacks protein receptors in them which cannot be countered with antibodies. Herd immunity just means people not affected by this factor won’t spread it to others without

exactly. more false information. is it all just made up as they go along. do not mind anyone just saying they do not know. that seems a thing of the past. no information for me is far better than the wrong ones. bet there is more than me among older posters who contracted those stuff like measels you got as a kid more than once when they said you cannot get em twice. seems then if this is the case NHS staff need testing every day.

Apparently two health workers have the virus and a number of residents are showing symptoms. Well not apparently. A letter has been sent to all residents.

I caught a nasty bout of shingles about four years ago, above my left eye and very painful. I read up about this particular form of Herpes. You can't catch it unless you have had chicken pox. I didn't even remember having the latter.
