Set to return on May 9th apparently. Don't suppose anyone here has ever followed a German club? I'd consider St. Pauli but they're not in the top flight so I doubt they'll get TV coverage.

Hertha are best for pools colours I suppose.

I go and watch St Pauli a couple of times a season , love it , great atmosphere , Hamburg is cool as fuck. Looking to take in an away game sometime in the future , somewhere like Dresden , Leipzig or Berlin preferably.

My son wants to take in a Dortmund game, so that's on the radar ,easy enough to get to , but accommodation in Dortmund and Dusseldorf is extortionate.

St. Pauli are awesome but I don't think they'll get televised much, at least over here. Dresden looks a beautiful city as well, always wanted to visit it. I'd like to see St. Pauli someday but I'd rather see A.S. Livorno first.

As for away days I'd imagine St. Pauli vs Hansa Rostock (excluding Hamburg of course) would be the best atmosphere but I imagine getting a ticket wouldn't be easy.

I went to Dusseldorf around 4 or so years ago, can't remember it been that expensive? Switzerland and Norway are something else though from what I've heard.

Leftfield thinking here but hartlepool is twinned with huckelhoven. Nearest Bundesliga team is Borussia monchengladbach

I'm all for Hertha ... even though they are from the capital they are currently punching above their weight. They were actually top for a couple of weeks last season.

I worked with a lad in the 80’s who swore blind the wall was there to keep the ‘West’ out. A German lad who worked with us asked him why all the escape tunnels started in the ‘East’.

If there was a wall between Britain and West Germany , I think I would be digging a tunnel. A lad I once knew from East Germany told me it wasn't that bad, jobs and money to spend, very cultural, just they had little to spend it on, as stocks of everything were low, think our small supermarkets during this pandemic, well East Germany was ten times worse. Of course the surveillance was over the top , probably the worst in the world at the time , now its probably the UK.

You used the ‘C’ word...’culture’, so it would never work.
Who needs culture when we have hundreds of channels of banal dross to switch off.

the thing is the present crisis is showing what a lot of the general public and police would be like given the chance. on top of the CCTV we all have to suffer there are the clowns who love sticking phones in your face at every opportunity and dob you in to the police at every opportunity. then there is the stasi, sorry the police force whose actions are well OTT in many cases, but for some not OTT enough. at least when this is over we know who they are and what they,d be like given the opportunity.
