There summary of events today includes the big night in on bbc tonight

But doesn't mention that 616 people died today.

It's like that's not news anymore.

To answer the question in the title, I don't think it is okay to hate the BBC. Obviously my own opinion.

I accept they are not perfect but I think generally speaking they do a decent job. Their range and quality of services is top notch also.

You also tend to find that some left-wing fanatics believe it is right-wing biased, and vice versa, which probably suggests it is actually somewhere between the two as it is supposed to be.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to just focus on the pandemic but I really don't know what kind of balance they have.

Hard to hate the BBC for me as state broadcasters go I would say it’s the best in the World.

I think the BBC is spot on. Not perfect but has great balance of programmes for all, from toddlers to the old. When you bring into the equation the radio channels, I think everyone is catered for. I can quite happliy lie in bed and listen to comedy on Radio 4 via BBC Switch. BBC rulz.

Don’t hundreds, if not thousands of people die every day all the time?

All deaths are sad, not sure there is much the BBC can do about them though.

Just me then.

I maybe should have clarified that I meant BBC News. And their piddle weak journos.

And also I was referring to live coronavirus headlines. Should have clarified that too.

So 8 coronavirus headlines one if which was an advert. But the daily death toll wasnt one of the

If the only reason to hate the BBC is because they don't take the same stance as ourselves, then maybe we should look at ourselves.

In my view as an institution its superb and there's nothing like it anywhere in the world. In practice it's newsroom is full of political correctness and the epicentre of cosmopolitan lovieness. It's far too Londoncentric and too influenced by the whole London scene. They seem to ignore the rest of the UK except in a patronising way.

This is exactly the reason they got the results of both Brexit and the election wrong as well as the election of Donald Trump in the US.

ITN's Reginald Bosanquet told it as it was.

Sandy Gall was a giant of news too. He spent more time in the Vietnam War than Ho Chi Minh!

I watched the BBC news just after 3; they had the death count on their breaking news text at the bottom. This is probably my lefty bias, but you've got to remember that the tories have sent many not so subtle messages that the BBC licence fee is not guaranteed. I suspect they're engaging in self censorship. That's not a reason to hate the institution.

for those who live or have lived abroad is the BBC better or worse than what they have heard or seen in other countries.

One thing you do notice abroad is the huge number of BBC credits at the end of programmes. Especially documentaries and serials.
And in the first of those categories at least half of them mention Sir Dave somewhere in the credits, usually at the top.
