So they're protesting self isolation and restrictions by forming large groups in open spaces in America. I read this sign and thought, it should read "give me Liberty and let me catch Covid 19", then it should have added "and infect people I come into contact with". I really just don't understand some people. Liberty and Freedom are things I believe in In the US they feel very strongly, however it comes with responsibility. In the US they have the right tobear arms. However they don't have the right to go around shooting people. Basically this Lady could be a loaded weapon and she wants her Liberty during a Pandemic. Unreal.

I'm innocent Mr Remote. I've just seen it on the BBC site. The protest in the pic was on 18th, which is probably why your eagle eyed friend sent you it yesterday.

She certainly knows how to put across a point of view. The problem is it's probably not hers.
There's no way you can parse that slogan to make it mean "I'd rather have covid than be locked in".

Fine, she might get it and her wish would be granted, as long as she keeps it to her stupid self.

You can’t really blame idiots like this when the orange abortion who is running the gaff is actively encouraging this sort of thing.

How many times have we all said about other subject that stuff starts in the USA and end up here. actually makes me wonder if stuff like this will actually kick off over here. At the moment its a bit of a novelty for many but another say 6 weeks of boredom and annoyance then you.ll never know.

51st state of America we are. That has always been our problem as a country , following those crazy fookers as opposed to the Germans, Dutch or Scandinavians.

agree, but some just cannot get enough of the place. its their lifetime ambition to go there to lap up the place, people and their culture. always thought if we became an american state it would have a great deal of support among folk in this country.

A small but vocal minority that Trump has empowered to deflect the reality of the situation.

We've seen similar in this country, excepting the weapons of mass death the US nutters are so fond of.

Matt Johnson said this is the 51st state 34 years ago, he could see the madness.

We have forever been in hock to them since they loaned us vast amounts of money to win the WW2. This meant that Britain was a shithole during the 1950s , it wasn't until the 60s we got on some sort of even keel , and enough confidence for Harold Wilson to stick two fingers up at them and not take us into Vietnam. This didn't last long though , with Thatcher once again returning the UK to its rightful position of being America's little lapdog.

I remember Mrs Thatcher flirting with Reagan in public to get him to choose a British system for a lucrative defence contract, only for it to go to Thomson in France.
Sorry, can't remember the name of the system. Something to do with communications.

Jair Bolsonaro, also known as Trump's biggest stalker fan and president of Brazil is also stoking the flames and trying to incur lockdown protests.

This is why I was against Brexit. Pulling away from the decent crowd and getting closer to Drumpf and co. The EU aren't perfect but compared to the US they're the lesser of the two evils. But of course things like lend-lease lol that never happened. A lot of our nations failures and troubles can be directly and indirectly traced to the USA. Why do we even respect a nation that broke free of our control anyway?

Americans are a weird people. Gullible as hell, and with a "yeah, fuck you!" hair-trigger reflex.

Except that's an absurd generalisation. The press don't find it interesting to focus on people obediently staying at home and inventing 100,000 ways to relieve the boredom, so we get to see the loonies. The loonies especially like frequenting places like the YouTube comments column.

That's not to say there aren't a sizeable number of them. 1% of the US population still leaves 3.5 million loonies.

Yep ! I'm sure decent Americans do exist , but they have been firmly put in their place over the last 50 or so years and dare not speak out. If we don't awake from our slumber , that could be well be the situation for some of us in the UK in the next 20 or so years time.

Surely all the encouragement of protesters by Trump is a handy way of passing the blame onto the people for the astronomical amount of deaths they are going to see?

I would've thought so , most are aren't they? It makes the point though and hopefully gives those that actually believe it , a bit of a chuckle.
