Just utterly without any moral compass whatsoever this lot.

There's a world wide shortage. All they had to do is say that. Things are bad and its not necessarily someone fault. Why are we not making it in the UK though?

You do realise that NHS staff are being told they HAVE to work dont you? The moral compass here is that they are being threatened to have to work either through direct threats or more subtlely(is that a word?) By managers that know there isn't enough PPE.

Did the government delay trying to get PPE? Was it just that demand was already through the roof? A bit of research shows that there are UK manufacturers on board. I don't know the extent though.

The government has done a good job expanding NHS capacity so hopefully UK manufacturing can get up to speed with that. My bets are they'll come up with the goods.

There are moral dilemmas being faced across the globe. It's not just us.

I am curious. As you rarely answer the topic being discussed. Do you think its acceptable that NHS staff are told to treat people with the virus without the correct PPE. A simple yes or no.

If this is true then staff should be able to refuse to work with no PPE. Then they have to live with this consequences if people die. Sounds like an awful part of the job but these things happen in the world. They are tragedies and they happen under governments of every flavour. I dont know what it has to do with conservatives in particular.

They have to live with the consequences? You do realise thats part of what they are told when told they have to work right?

And never mind IF it's true. It is.

Unless my wife is lying to me.

I feel sorry for your wife. I dont know if this reflects the country as a whole. I hope not.

I signed up to a job where there is an element of risk. I am no hero. Somebody who did not sign up for that but cracks on anyway is a hero. Whether that's saving lives or just helping to keep a business afloat to aid the economy, heroes all.

A few weeks ago on the BBC News they interviewed a lady who ran a PPE manufacturing Co. She stated that they had no orders from the UK Govt and they were really busy exporting to other Nations governments. Proves once again the Govt were too slow to react, never mind the lack of prior planning.

I agree MadJohn. Just my impression is that those in power believed in the UK's old Splendid Isolation from Europe and the rest of the World. Being surrounded by water was our Barrier and the virus therefore would only cause us a little problem. They forgot about planes ships etc and worldwide travel for business/commerce and pleasure. Possibly a bit of heads in the Sand.

The RAF have just sent a plane to Turkey to pick up the delayed delivery of 400,000 gowns.

Didn't we commission Turkey to build some RAF jets for us just after Brexit?

So much for making our own country's industry stronger...

That was probably the delay. The plane hadn't been built yet!
