From the Yorkshire Evening Post...

15. Hartlepool
Grafters galore at the Victoria Ground and the signing of both Robbie Elliot and Ian Moore add experience as well. Won't pull up any trees but far too good to go straight back dow.
Star man: Richard Barker.

Other points of interest...

Under 4. Leeds, "but it's going to be a massive culture shock visiting places like Hartlepool".

And for Yoevil. Star man: Marcus Stewart.

Their predicted table is:
1. Nottingham Forest
2. Luton Town
3. Millwall
4. Leeds
5. Brighton
6. Bournemouth
7. Swansea
8. Southend
9. Tranmere
10. Bristol Robers
11. Oldham
12. Huddersfield
13. Crewe
14. Doncaster
15. Hartlepool
16. Carlisle
17. Walsall
18. Northampton
19. Swindon
20. Port Vale
21. Gillingham
22. Yeovil
23. Cheltenham
24. Leyton

Looks like Boydy isn't going to save Orient after all. Good decision Danny!

When Leeds went I heard that loads of times, so much so I decided to make a list of some of them

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/4503
"Time to get out the maps and open up the reference books. Time to find out where Cheltenham and Chesterfield are and how to get to Hartlepool. "

http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm? ... e=s6i18079
"With only three minutes of stoppage time left to play, and with the scores level, Leeds, not fancying the drop into League One, went to Plan B and ordered their fans onto the pitch in a vain attempt to avoid visits to places like Walsall and Hartlepool next season. "

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.j ... gips29.xml
"Dennis Wise and everyone associated with a club who, on three occasions, were crowned champions of England and who were competing in the Champions League semi-finals only six years ago, the play-off final for the Premiership only 12 months ago. Now visits to Hartlepool await. "

"United's failure to overcome Ipswich Town on Saturday means Leeds will be playing against Hartlepool United in League One next season,"

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... 15,00.html
"but is now faced with trips to Carlisle, Northampton and Hartlepool."

"The optimism of 2001 gave way long ago to a pessimistic sense of dread about what lies ahead and the prospect of away trips to Hartlepool, Leyton Orient and Cheltenham is hardly one to lift the gloom. "

"Leeds United and their overpaid underachievers slumming it with the likes of Hartlepool United"

http://www.hull.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=63358
"The true Leeds' fans, not the plonkers who tried to stop the game yesterday, will find it hard to adjust to the likes of Hartlepool."

"Gone are the days of challenging Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as facing Barcelona and AC Milan in Europe.

Instead, the prospect of playing Hartlepool in League One next season looms large."

I also seem to remember a large number of lettings complaining to the Evening Post saying that Leeds shouldn't be playing the likes of us.

I'm used to it now. No doubt we'll hear it even more next season.

I see Brighton get the popular vote again, even though they are absolutely shocking and will achieve nowt. Could it be because 90% of sports journalists lost their cherry in Brighton to a moustachio'd hero in a gay bar called Shirley??

Leeds won't finish as high as 4th in my opinion. I'd back us to finish higher than Leeds next season. We have a few things they lack - team spirit, a good manager - and we are solvent.

aah, but Mr Bates is trying to "dispose" of all the debt to make them instantly solvent again. Well, for six weeks or so at least, until the whole cycle repeats itself. This is what irks people like Ken Hodcroft, and the fact that the Football authotities let certain clubs get away with it. But not teams like Wrexham, Scarborough etc. We would also fall into that last bracket, because we are a "the likes of" club.
Fuc-k it, why don't the club just change its name to "The Likes Of Hartlepool United F.C."

Come on TLOHUFC
