Player of the season

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Player of the season

My view for what it's worth is the seasons over and it will be null & void ( hope I am wrong).

Of players still here my player of the year is Nicky Featherstone.

Can't argue with Featherstone.

Think Mark Kitching deserves a mention as well, he's got the earlier stages of Andy Monkhouse about him I reckon.

Kitching has certainly improved the most from the 18-19 season

Featherstone, which sort of sums up the season really.

Featherstone must have played under at least 6 different Pools managers now, all with different styles and approaches.

They have all played him as much as possible, which tells you something given the number of midfielders we've had for competition. Seems like Challinor knows exactly how to bring the best out in him.

Featherstone had improved over the last 18 months, as well as losing weight and looking and becoming fitter as a result as well as finally starting to score goals , something every good midfielder should do now and again. He was improving long before Challinor rode into town, but him and DC do look a good fit , with DC getting even more out of him.

Looks like the seasons finished so can’t argue with Featherstone, his improvement comes from we are playing a system that suits his style of play, this in turn has improved his confidence and his mindset, conditioning etc are much improved. We don’t see what happens off the pitch watching the new Sunderland documentary tells you that, the way Maja pisses the club about is his agent, the kid hadn’t much of a clue what was going on?
Featherstones like a new player this season, I suspect we will struggle to keep him, could even seen a league club coming in ?

actually never minded featherstone apart from when noble was in the side. funny how he,s improvement seemed to go hand in hand with his departure.

Can't disagree with that. Noble probably knocked Featherstone's nose out of joint, became the main man for awhile. Although a small bloke he does seem to have a hold on the club for some reason , popular and sees himself as the leader. Still think we need better than Featherstone to get out of this division like.

I would go with Featherstone. It would have been close with James if he had stayed fit. He was playing his best football when he got crocked. Again coinciding with the arrival of DC,
I would have had Kioso in the mix as well if he had stayed.

Considering he played a majority of the season with us he's a good shout.

He was a good looking lad I suppose.
