I know there is probably a few athletes on here like myself who might be able to shed a bit light on what ive done my knee in and im going for a MRI on Tuesday and seeing a knee specialist a week later but got feeling it might get cancelled!

I was knelt down at work and went to stand up and it felt like someone had smashed my knee with a sledge hammer, the pain was off the scale and my leg was still in the bent position and there was no way i could straighten it, straight to hospital where they had to put me on gas and air to get it back straight

i was still in unbearable pain getting me of the bed for a x ray when all of a sudden something clunked in my knee and pain went and movement was back

Had a leg brace on for 10 days and still sore and weak and hurts a bit and makes strange noises if i walk with it off ?

anyone had a similar sort of injury and what was it and how long did it take to mend

Yes I have dislocated my knee and done ACL both like that. Mine still locks and has dropped out a few times. Hurts like hell in the cold weather and you can hear it grinding when I go upstairs. You got it forever sorry

The nurse who seen to me said she thought me knee cap had slipped down but it didnt look any different to look at.

Im more worried about any damage to cartlidge or ligaments buf have to wait till the MRI to find out, Ive had some bad injuries over the years and suffer with my back but fook me i made noises ive never made before when i done this

I did my knee it at 21 but continued playing rugby for ten years wearing an elastic bandage. Fast forward a few decades and the injury is still there but I only rarely feel any effects; nothing to write home about. It does make noises though.
A bit of selective weight training helps knackered knees.

Sounds very like when I did my meniscus. It had been aching a bit then suddenly locked and hurt a lot when I did my shoelaces up i the supermarket. Was stranded in the bread section unable to straighten it. Did a strange hobble to try and get to the tills to ask for help and it suddenly went right, still hurt a bit but could move fine.

Scan showed that themeniscus had split, basically worn through because of scar tissue from an old injury. The smaller bit was loose and that's what had jammed the knee joint, same thing would keep happening unless they sorted it. It was too far gone for repair so they did keyhole surgery and removed the whole meniscus. Took a while to get better but is now fine although the surgeon did tell me it was the start of the end for my knee joint and to stick to low impact exercise.
