your second evey postman.

Before you start please don't answer that.

Instead for my first ever post in the Bunker I thought i'd try something more radical, more obscure.......wait for it........a thread related to Hartlepool United!

I know i'm completely off the wall but here goes.

In all our Mr. Wilson's defensive statements regarding 6 out of his seven signings being er.. "defensive", he talks about Moore being hungry again, Barker going to score lots of goals, Mackay being a good prospect etc but never about our very own Aussie magician.

In my opinion with a good pre season and an injury free run, good ole Joel could well be our best striker and still looked class at the end of last season despite the lay off.

So my question is this. Is there some sort of friction between Joel and Danny boy or does our manager just not fancy him (in a strictly footballing sense and not all men together in a big bath sort of way)??

Opinions greatly received.

And for those of you desperate for more obvious threads:

My favourite song is Ceremony by Joy Division (the best song never recorded!).
My dog is called Rolly.
I did eat worms in my youth
My favourite material for undergarments is alpaca wool.....ooh its so soft! (can't remember if that was a thread from the Bunker or one of the other messageboard sites that Mrs Northumberland disapproves of).

Thats all for now folks!

No I don't think there are any hidden issues between Porter and Wilson.
It's true he did get dropped during a short period last season while Wilson was still searching for his best combination (though he still came on as sub in all three games). The rest of the time he fell off the radar due to injury and for no other reason that I can see. He was back in the squad for the last six matches as soon as he could play without risk.

Wilson said quite recently and quite unequivocally that he was expecting a lot from a fit Joel.

Porter thinks about the game while he is out there. He doesn't tend to daydream and give defenders an easy time like some strikers when they don't see much of the ball. Maybe it's the Australian mentality of not settling for second best - when he does get the chance to put one over an opposing defender with a piece of skill, or a good run or a good piece of positioning, he will.

Totally agree with you all (quite a love-in really!) although still don't believe Danny boy is convinced probably because he hasn't seen the best of Porter.

Joel will be the unexpected success story of Div 1 next season given an injury free run. Mark my words!

Porter is quality but the above baffles me. He is a lazy sod who will sit on his arse moaning at teh ref rather than fight for the ball back. When he doesnt have the ball he one of the laziest players we ever had but give the ball to his feet and we will score shit loads.

I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour
But heaven knows I'm miserable now

I was looking for us to go up, and then we went up
And heaven knows I'm miserable now

In my life
Why do I give valuable time
To players who don't care if I live or die ?

What you said to them at the end of the day
Porter would have blushed

"You've been injured too long" you said
So he (naturally) fled...

Anyhow, back to the point. Porter works so hard, he is the sweatiest player on the pitch thus he works the hardest.

Can't agree with you there Tree. Porter does run around and tries to get the ball, therfore not lazy at all.

There is a grain of truth in what Mr Tree says, I remember being livid one particular occasion last season when Porter sat on the ground for ages after being knocked off the ball.

I actually remember that too.

Was it at the start of last season or was it before that, eg the start of the previous season under MS?

Muts

I was trying to start a sensible thread here but yet again the Board stoops to irrelevant ramblings of a non footballing nature.

For the record we do not have local papers in Northumberland as the lack of roads and electricity to read by, restricts potential circulation. It is also remiss of me not to have the weight of Rolly to hand but attempts to man handle him last night onto Mrs. Northumberland's new scales only resulted in bites to both hands (one each from Rolly & Mrs. Northumberland). My canine companions weight will therefore have to remain a matter of speculation although at a guess approximately the same as a sheep wearing a leather bondage suit.

ADG

Again not wishing to stray off the footballing theme any fool should know that alpaca wool undergarments only come in boxer short design as it is is virtually impossible to successfully carry out intricate Y front stitching in such a volumous and soft material.

PS - This is my last comment of a non footballing nature!

Why does he do it though? He didn't used to. It's as if he thinks that if he looks exasperated enough, the ref will stop play and award a free kick.

A bit like when someone is red carded and his team all jump up and down, shouting and protesting.....as if the ref might say, 'Oh, all right then, he needn't go.'

Sounds like a plan - only can we substitute the alcopops for a more appetising drink?

Hmm this is beginning to look tricky. Must explain at this point that people register at grabec's dating agency entirely at their own risk.
