Only 7.

I'm sure I've been to more that aren't on that list but can't think which ones.

The fact pools played at a lot of these in the days I used to take a minibus load from Tunstall youth club to a lot of away games meant North West, Northampton and north means a lot on the list were covered and a trip to Highbury a couple of times as well as a trip to Wembley in the 70,s for England V Scotland roll on retirement and the chance to clock up a few more grounds hopefully back in the football league.

35 for me - I never visited Eton Park, Christie Park, Don Valley or Loakes Park.

Boothferry Park was an interesting one as it is the only ground I have been to where I was unaware of the result of the match at the final whistle. The game had been in doubt due to thick fog but, despite much confusion that it had been called off, the gates were finally opened. Standing near one end of the ground, I could see Jack Shit about what was happening in the other half of the pitch. Hearing a couple of distant muffled cheers and seeing resultant kick-offs, I took it that Pools had scored twice which I believe was the final score.

As an add-on, I jumped on a bus at the station to get to the ground. I dropped my money into a box only to discover (for the first time) that their bus company didn't give change. Bastards.

I was at that game in the Supermarket End it was season 91/92 and you couldn’t even see the half way line I have no idea how the game took place. I remember the Pools fans singing ‘Hodgey Hodgey what’s the score’ to our keeper who (I think) was at the far end! You just had go on the noise of the crowd when the ball was in the other half.

So, between the two of us PJ, we saw the whole match! The result was 0-2, wasn't it???

It must have been a late decision to give the game the go-ahead as it wasn't that long before kick-off when they let us in. Like you, I was amazed that the match took place.

I was at the Hull game as well, remember knowing we'd scored one of the goals when a Pools player appeared from the fog celebrating. But I thought there was a score board above the away end that confirmed the score.

I'm rather confused now, ptbap, well, even more than usual!

By the "away end", I assume that you are referring to the Supermarket End mentioned by PJ? This was the end where we scored, wasn't it, and would have been visible to the Poolies but you said that you were aware of a goal when a "Pools player appeared from the fog celebrating"? Or were you elsewhere in the ground? I was near the corner at the other end by the dedicated railway platform so was unaware of the details of the Supermarket End, let alone a scoreboard!

Glancing quickly at your post, Mr I, I thought it read 2-4 and was wondering how I had missed all the extra goals but it was EXTREMELY foggy!

I was at that game sat in the stand level with just outside of the penalty box. I couldn't see the goal at the other end from there.
Every time there was a raising of the home fans noise and then a groan Poolies started chanting Hodgey Hodgey as if he had saved it.

I reckon it should have been called off but we were 2-0 up.

I hated going to that ground horrible home fans.

I was at the Hull game, my old boss was a director at Pools and we were in hospitality. Back then the refs and linesmen came in as well, it seems the home manager and assistant gave them that much abuse to get him to call it off when Pools second went in they were going to continue come what may. We were on the half way line and it was difficult to see each end, amazed it went the distance.

Who are you like the bobbies?

What are you implying!?

Yes I was going to regular away games from 89 onwards with my Dad and Grandad, I’d have been nearly 10 at that Hull game and have very clear memories of much earlier away fixtures than that.

PJ, I merely asked a question. I wasn't implying anything !

I was a regular at away games throughout the 90's and even wrote a column for the Programe about away games. I was asking as I thought I would most probably know you. There wasn't a lot of us at some games"

Keep your hair on !!!!!

Remember Leeds Road Huddersfield. Huge crumbling terraces with an interesting variety of weeds. Never saw Pools there though.
