I’ll settle the Horden v Derwent ‘derby’ every quickly.
Derwent is a lifelong Labour voter who doesn’t like the way the Party is going.
Horden believes in radical left wing policies and no compromise.
Best ignore each other as this is just a Somme style exchange with no ground surrendered by either side.

Correction Snowy. I believe in left of centre policies not radical left wing policies ( whatever they are). I think we have lost a lot of ground over the last 40 years, so yes initially things may appear as though they are radical, but as you know, Corbyns policies are not really that radical at all, basically he wants a return to some of the things we took for granted in the 60s, 70s, 80s, Social Housing, jobs, decent pay, workers rights, human rights, thats not radical just whats right and just. As for compromise, I do compromise, the party I would like to see in power would do compromise, its complete nonsense to suggest otherwise, the flak I am getting on here is not to dissimilar to what Corbyn has had to face over the last couple of years, its wrong, its baseless and its an attempt to grind any opposition down through snidey remarks and bullying.

You are right though, we should ignore each other, I know I will do my part. I have just had a message off someone about Derwent and it wasnt complimentary at all. I certainly won't be indulging him anymore. The young people will just have to get on with the mess the neo- liberals leave them to deal with. He seems at ease with this.

Ah we have tittle tattle now in private messages, that sounds well in keeping.
I have been on this planet over 74 years and I am fully aware I can't please everybody, nobody can, but I wouldn't even think about entertaining behind my back tittle tattle.
If your looking for a reaction to your tittle tattle, Mr Horden, I'll give you one.......contempt.
That, on reflection, is what you deserve.

I think this paragraph was unnecessary.

Sorry Monty, I wasn't aware that there were limits. It would be helpful if you published guidelines.

Keeping quotes down to the last one in the chain would be a start. Editing the quote down to the essential point you're replying to would be even better.
That's not directed at you in particular by the way.

Cheers. I'll get my daughter to give me instructions on how to do as you wish. I've just recently mastered the biro. I'll have to remind her that I taught her to use a knife and fork.

Mr Derwent, Mr Horden, I think you both actually hanker after the same thing but express it in different ways.

You are both decent gadgies, and you are doing exactly what the Tories want ie sniping at each other's small differences rather than looking at the bigger picture of austerity and doing something about it.

Please lets be civil and don't forget that none of us on here are millionaires, and if any of us are then they're very good at hiding it.

John.
I know you mean well but you have completely missed the highly deadly undercurrent present here.
I would love to think that you are right but you are not. I say this because I have the greatest respect for you but I can't sit by and blindly ignore what is happening in this country because of the lurch to extremism from both sides of the political spectrum.
Read your history which gives a vivid insight into the evil, suffering, suppression and state controlled murder the likes of Fascism and Stalinism have brought to the World.
We may be a few levels away from these evils today but take heed as to how and why it happens and those signs are emerging.
The big problem with zealots is they start off in a reasonable way but it gets out of hand because they don't know where to stop.
Evil prospers because good men sit by and do nothing to stop it.
Now I know this post will be ridiculed, criticised, laughed at and ignored by many but you won't be laughing when it all ends in tears.
The German people have sampled both Fascism and Communism coupled with a political and geographical division of their country and now they are re united in peace and prosperity. Ask them if I'm talking nonsense. Ask them if they ever want to return to extremism. Then ask yourself why they don't want those days back.
I have no dislike for Mr Horden as a person, I've never met the man. My concern is he and others are blindly heading towards their lifetime utopia which is unachievable, simply because of the human element involved. We can't trust mankind to buy into these wonderful ideas, which are only wonderful on paper or in theory just as we can't leave our front doors open overnight, or our cars. To achieve these ideals everyone has to buy into them and when they don't the idealists get frustrated and resort to forcing their extreme beliefs on anyone who questions them.
The evidence is there.
Just my opinion like.

I resent the insinuation that I'm not absolutely swimming in it. The number of times I've lain back and spent my Lotto winnings is unimaginable.
