For the forthcoming season we have made changes to our membership from June this year individual membership will be £2.00 and for a family up to 5 the cost of this will be £5.00. For your membership you will receive discounts at Vue Cinema, Kosa hairdressers, Burger King, Mariners fish restaurant, Ocean restaurant, The Galley cafe in Middleton Grange with their discount card which will be sent out with membership cards, HUDSA merchandise and a 50% discount at Dominoes Pizza on production of you card. We feel this is very good value and hope that supporters take up or renew their membership.

It has never struck me as being a very good location to watch the match from. But I suppose it must be difficult to come up with a better place, that is accessible to disabled supporters.

Great idea Neil, I'll be joining up for my family this season.

Funnily enough, my eldest (who is disabled of course) is really keen to get to some matches next season.

Does anyone have experience of watching Pools from the Disabled Enclosure? To be honest after my experiences on the last day of last season I think I'd rather be over there next term.

The view from the disabled section for home fans is disgraceful as people are walking past all the time and the wheelchair fans have the barriers at eye level. refred

As for the away sections all depends on which club you are at.
Some would get 10 out of 10 and some would get nil point.

Disbled area should be in the town end as the away fans are in the rink end, they HAVE A BETTER VIEW as they can see everything without people in front of them

As you expect at a new ground,Swansea's facility's are second to non.

Our disabled section would be fine where it is if it was raised or up at the first lot of seats with access.

I take it there have been discussions with the club about this over the years? I reckoned it would be a bit of a crap view for her to be honest, mind you her wheelchair goes up and down as well as back and forth so we should be able to see,

I wrote to NADS (national association of disabled supporters) about the improvements needed as the two of the things they want improved for disabled fans is to stop the threat of balls being whacked in your face (which is obviously very high where the current enclosure is) and to get you out of the rain but their response back was fairly pathetic TBH

The current enclosure is complete and utter shite and needs addressing over the summer (but it won't be). If these fans were worth more than a few quid every home game, I'm sure the club might have done more to accomodate them. It says something when the away disabled enclosure is far better

But the cost for a ticket is still the same as sitting in the CK stand eg £399 for an adult. refred

This season Chris wants to sit in the seats for the same costs even though he will struggle the stairs and will he be told he is a fire hazard because of this, like he was at Wrexham. refred

Bump!

Who's got their membership sorted then?

It'd be good to think those who use the HUDSA away travel could spare a couple of quid to join as a member.

I can think of a few people who'd save themselves a few quid every night from some of the discounts that are being offered

At least Pools have an disabled area for away fans, not all Clubs do (well a decent one anyway).
Also the existing home area is better than the old one, which was in the corner of the ground, near the Corner Flag.

Not really as people get wet in the winter and the view is from ground level so when people are walking past it is totally restricted. The away disabed supporters area is much better a raised level and no one is walking in front of them.

also the club shop doesnt have access via a ramp for wheelchairs luckly my dad who is disabled but can walk with the aid of sticks not over a great distance but if he was in a wheelchair full time it would be shocking also we have a distinct lack of disabled parking unless you want to get there an hour and a half before matches

If I were you I would contact the club direct at the moment the cost is £20.00 per game but that would include a helper for free so a cost of £10.00 each.

The disabled area is a complete and utter disaster . Disabled fans are treat like second class citizens and I really wouldn't take a kid of mine if I was in that position..... it's an insult to disabled fans.

Something that the club dont recognise is that being disabled doesnt always mean immobile, but if you take advantage of the disabled concession you must also use the disabled enclosure.

Part of the HUDSA constituion says that disability doesn't just come in wheelchairs there are many areas to this and these must be addressed.

My criticism is in no way aimed at HUDSA,its the club that are at fault.

No worries GC its just to show that HUDSA understand the situation and that disabilty comes in many forms.

Just read an e-mail from the National Association of Disabled Supporters and they want to produce another guide to the grounds booklet for disabled people and they also want to include matchday feedback, that will be interesting. taz taz taz

we used the disabled section with me dad for the first time last season. as he is now wheelchair bound after a major stroke.the view is pretty poor to be honest, too many people in front, you can't see most of whats happening in the rink end as the barriers are in the way.
good view for the town end mind.me dad doesn't complain like he's just happy to watch his team.
the access is quite good mind everything on one level.
just a small point by the way, every game last season there was one player who always came up to that section at the end of the match. ritchie humpreys clappp

Instead of just accepting this rubbish view why don't you contact the club to see what they're going to do about it?

Disabled supporters at Pools are treated like 2nd class citizens and I can't see them doing anything about it as there's no money in looking after a handful of disabled supporters when they can put their attentions on ripping off several thousand instead

Have you or anybody else come up with some viable suggestions of what they could do about it?

I approached NADS (National Association of Disabled Supporters before you say anything!!) about two or three months ago because they specify in their mandate that they wish to see disabled supporters given the option of being protected from the elements and from a risk of being hit by the ball. The position of the disabled enclosure at Pools means you get pissed everytime it rains and you run a fairly high risk of getting smacked in the face when a ball is cleared (its only a matter of time before this happens, prevention rather than cure Pools???). Sadly their response wasn't brilliant, saying along the lines of 'you approach your club and we'll support you'.

I don't think it would cost much to get improved disabled facilities at Pools, there must be a few viable options and I know that HUDSA have some big money raising plans for the next few months so it would be good if something can be arranged between the two if Pools are reluctant to spend the money

There seems to be a grat deal of consensus that the disabled area is very poor indeed but individuals will not get the required results that is needed. HUDSA have mentioned this situation many times, maybe it is time for all interested parties to get together and to try and push forward an action plan to give people in wheel chairs a better place to view the game from. My suggestion would be behind the goal in a raised area similar to the away disabled supporters one, at least people can see the game and no one walks past them when the game is on. I would be interested in other people's idea's as well. The best place (just another thought) could be in front of the boxes in a completely raised area but that would require a lift to be put in.

There are plenty of places that disabled supporters could be placed, it would just take a bit of foresight from the club and some cash. I'm sure hudsa could provide the cash if required, all we need is some foresight from the club but I won't hold my breath there
