1 Their ground is in an area that once used to belong to Wales.

2 The first time I went, we looked good for a point until we conceded a last minute penalty. Final score 1-0.

3 When we played our last home game of the 2002/2003 season, they were doomed to releagation, and so would be playing what they thought would be their last ever away league game, so brought a big crowd. They are one of the few teams ever to have sold out their ticket allocation.

4 Hideous 80's band T'Pau are from Shrewsbury.

5 When we beat them at Gay Meadow in 2002, I drove out of the town centre behind a bus full of 'Junior Shrews' who spotted my Pools top and so gave me no end of hand gestures, face pulls and verbal abuse for over five minutes. It rounded off a superb day.

Was that one of the few games when John Bass actually played well? I travelled onto Wales that day.

I don't remember to be honest. I do know that Mark Robinson had a shocker on the left, yet supplied the pass for Eifions goal.

1. Its Saxon name was Scrobbesbyrig.

2. Charles Darwin was from there which would explain how he formed his opinions on simian development.

3. Scrobbesbyrigians are just Taffy's with their brains kicked out.

4. Michael Palin went to school there. As did Michael Heseltine.

5. They are almost universally poor at football and we should hammer them viciously.

We need MadJohn now. I'm sure that was Bass' debut, and I thought he played well and looked a good signing. Shows what I know!

If ever a player wasn't given a chance at Pools it was Jon Bass.

You're mixing your games up. Bass made his debut on the opening day of the 2001/02 season against Mansfield. Shrewsbury away was the next match. Bass played well, but the main talking point was the the two red cards for the Shrews as Pools won easily.

The game that Eifion scored the winner in was a year later, and Bass didn't play.

Cheers for that, it's starting to come back. Why can I remember all sorts of irrelevant stuff but next to fook all about the matches I've attended?

BTW, you were dangerously like a genie there; popping up the minute someone mentioned your name!!!

It's funny but that page says 'look at some of the best moments in this career' and among one of the pics shows him warming up before the game!

Those photos where Boydy has the muddy shirt front show what looks to be a really top class ground. I want to go there. Where can I find it?
