I was walking through Kirkwall town centre on Orkney this morning with our lass and the bairns. I was walking ahead with the eldest as our lass was dawdling looking in windows etc.

She had the youngest with her who was wearing his Pools dut, and was approached by 2 gadgies from the town who were working up there and had clocked the Pools badge.

Me and the Mrs went to Florida in April 2007 on the day we played away at Rochdale, I was wearing my Pools shirt, when we were waiting for our bags at Orlando International airport a bloke came up to me asking how we had got on, we were both a bit gutted when I got a text saying it had finished 3-3

Went to audit a pipe mill in Saudi Arabia about 5 years ago and the place was being managed by a bloke from Hartlepool.

I live in Lincoln now. I was buying a paper in WH Smith's in the Carlton centre and I heard the older lady behind the till speaking in a very familiar accent. Turned out she'd left the town years ago but hadn't lost a single bit of the Pooly dialect.

I keep seeing a lad wearing a Pools shirt with Boyd on the back, walking up Newark road in Lincoln. I would pull over and speak to him if it wasn't creepy as hell.

There's a few Poolies, like me working at RAF camps round here so encounters are not uncommon.

Was in India (Goa) in a shack when the owner who was Indian asked where are you from I said Hartlepool. He said Omg! Your a Monkey Hanger!
And when I looked up at the shack roof there was a old Hartlepool shirt along with other teams. We are Famous world wide lol.

My hometown in Leigh, Lancashire. On our local market stall, I nearly fainted when I saw the Pools shirt. Had to stop him for a chat....

Loads of Hartlepool lads working up there at the moment cable-pulling, so I wouldn't imagine that unusual to have bumped into some! Two of my very good mates have been there for the past 6 months.

About 10 years ago I went over to Belfast to visit a good university mate. His younger brother was playing in the Milk Cup and one of Pools' youth teams were out there playing in the same competition. Having a few pints in one of the city centre pubs, we got talking to a couple of local girls and one of them asked me where I was from. When I told her the town she looked gobsmacked, 'My dad is a massive Hartlepool United fan!' A couple of days later at the tournament I saw a fella walking around with a Pools shirt. I went over to introduce myself and it turned out to be the lass' dad. Small world.

I met loads of Poolies in weird places, Orlando, Hong Kong and up Mt Tede in Tenerife. The guy at my local in St ives went to Henry Smiths.

Weirdest one was at the Breeders Cup in Saratoga I was there with my uncle who went over as a Jockey and lives there. I heard a guy shouting get the fuck inH’way as he won. I asked him where he was from and he said Seaton but now lives in Brooklyn

Was flying back from Indonesia when the plane was delayed due to a passenger being late. He ended up sitting next to me and after my annoyance subsided i starting chatting to him.
He was French and lived in Lyon and worked as an engineer for a manufacturer of food processing equipment.
He asked me where i was from and i said north east England,he said where abouts? so thinking he would not know Hartlepool i said near Newcastle, i then said near Middlesbrough and eventually i said Hartlepool. He looked at me and said "Gemini nite club". It turns out he had visited the RHM factory at Greatham several times and used to stay at the Grand Hotel which is close to Pools ground.
We were flying over India at the time.
Is that too tenuous a link?

I walked round a corner in Melbourne, Australia only to be confronted by a bloke in a Pools shirt. It turned out to be me , as I was looking in a mirror. bbolt bbolt

I've never met a Poolie in a really obscure place, but the ones I do meet in foreign places tend to be people I actually know.
For example among the people I ran into in Paris were my former next door neighbour and my nephew.

Several years ago myself and Mrs OddsOn were on holiday in Orlando and had the good fortune to meet Keith, Mrs Nobbs and young Jordan at a bus stop, enjoyed a good natter with them on the bus to Disney World, lovely people, never took him up on it but Keith said if I ever wanted shirts signing I just needed to get in touch with him at the club.

Last time I was in Orlando a lad working behind the counter in Nike World took one look at my Pools top, and shouted "Hey...that's that crazy guy Stelling!! James Brown!!!"

Also, Me and me Da were in some newsagents shop in Turkey and when the guy clocked my Pools shirt HE told ME that we had drawn 1-1 against York City earlier that afternoon. We had a good crack onto him and indeed Pools ARE massive in Bodrum...the Football Pools that is. That's how he knew it was a Score Draw!

Walked into the pub on Tolly Ho Corner in London and i ordered the drinks and the barmaid says to me "and what part of Hartlepool are you from?"
It turned out she was from "Catty Road"
I wonder now if she knew Sir Jeff?

She wouldn't have gone if the Catcote had stayed open. Mind you, she's passed quite a lot of pubs to do her barmaiding.
Is she a redhead????

After an extremely hot walk to the local pub in Frigiliana (near Malaga), a bloke said "ere, stand under this fan to cool down mate" after he'd heard us talk. Turns out he was from West View and had lived out there for 10 years.
