Michael Woods will sign for MK Dons before Thursday's deadline as on contract there will be a fee. I would like to thank him for his efforts at Pools and without his goals last season we would have definitely gone down,Good luck to him.

As I said after the Maidstone game, it's looked on the cards. His pre-season has been about getting him fit, not integrating him into the new look Pools side.

Good luck to Woodsy if true - he's had some great games for Pools and would have had more if he'd always been fully fit.

One of the most consistent players we've had the past few years. A shame he's going

Only thing that was consistent about Woods was being inconsistent. Maybe around better players he will be more consistent bit like any other player who has left and moved higher up.

Also one of the few professional footballers in England to drive a Nissan Leaf.

Leaf the lad alone, and stop barking on. Good look Mr Wood.

Woods is one of those really frustrating players we've had loads of over the last few years.

The fact is he couldn't hold a place down in the worst league squad in our history. Showed a lot more promise again last season at this level, but if we want to progress we need more players like Nolan.

Best of luck to him, his effort can't be faulted but just not up to the standard.

If Woods is one of the ‘really frustrating players’ that doesn’t say much for many of the rest. If we really want to progress we should be retaining Woods - who has proven that he can both compete and score goals at this level - and build the side around him and the likes of Noble, Davies, James, Muir and Magnay.

Newly relegated MK Dons are no mugs, they will have done their homework and will not be expecting to receive a ‘frustrating’ non-League midfielder for whatever fee they are paying for Woods. We can only hope that Bates has a couple of aces up his sleeve and is able to access incoming funding from the sale of Woods plus a portion of whatever the club receives from the Nsiala sell-on clause. This will be needed in order to add quality to the revamped side which although showing promise was clearly deficient in several areas last night.

How many games did Woods dominate a midfield in? 1 in 3? 5? 10?

How many times over the last few years was our midfield bypassed by the opposition?

He clearly doesn't feature in long term plans and I'm happy to get a fee for him. I've got faith that Bates and Hignett know what they're doing.

Think the truth lies somewhere between you too. There's no question Woods has been one of Pools better players over the last 3-4 seasons, which isn't saying that much admittedly. It's true he doesn't 'dominate' games and he's been anonymous in some really bad team performances. That said, I can remember plenty of times where Pools have suddenly clicked into gear and got on top of the opposition, with Woods nearly always at the heart of that. At his best he's an exciting attacking midfield player - can think of some great link up play with Jake Gray a few year back for example - and he does score goals.

Why hasn't he done it more often? I suspect he's often been carrying injuries, and his willingness to get stuck into 50:50 tackles when he looks about 9 stone wet through probably hasn't helped that. The likes of Lewis Alessandra never got so many injuries but then again they never made a tackle either.

He's had a good stint with Pools and probably could do with a change of scene and a signing on fee at this stage of his career. We've got Josh Hawkes coming through who can play a similar role, so it's a good deal all round.

On his day Woods was our best player, scored a few goals made a few big tackles and was quite exciting to watch. I'm surprised that of the midfield trio that's been so bad for so long (Hawkins, Featherstone, Woods) he is the one that we are getting rid of, but I guess he is going to a higher level. I wish him the best of luck. I think the time is right now for him to move on for his career and for us.

As you would probably expect from a player who was so highly rated earlier in his career. The fact he ended up here speaks volumes. When he was good, he was good, but it didn't happen often enough, which is a shame, cos when he was on his game, there were goals in him, exactly what we need from a midfielder and have been missing for nigh on a decade. Agree its time for a parting of the ways, but I'm not convinced we can get a like for like replacement at this level for a pittance.

So we get rid of Woods and keep Hawkins? Which of our current crop of midfielders will be leading scorer and score double figures this season in what should be a stronger side?

Noble could.

We're hardly 'getting rid' of him, he'll want to play higher up for his career and probably more money and we're quite happy taking a fee for him

I’d be happy with that but it would be surprising seen as he played 90 minutes for Carlisle on Saturday.

So you’d have thought a fee would be involved so surely Woods would be leaving?

Liddle would be good at this level as was always one who wasn’t shy of a tackle and ideal for us as he can play in either full back position, centre half and centre midfield.

Woods has a very poor goal scoring record for an attacking midfielder. Awfully inconsistent player and quite frankly we can't afford that any more. Won't be missed IMO, very surprised a league team are after him

He's bang average for me, 1 good game in 5/6 games. Occasionally he gets stuck in but games just drift by him and he's probably in need of a change.
