Didn't realised he had signed for Chesterfield. 2 games, no goals conceded, just saying like. Signed on a one year contract , as you would expect for a player at this level in his 30s

I said at the time I’d have 100% signed him for Pools, Davies is a miles better and player in reality but I reckon we’d have had room for him as well.

My slight concerns about tonight revolve around tactics, I bet Martin Allen who knows this League didn’t set his team up 3-4-3 with a lad who’s never really been able to play in a four man midfield as one of them. It’s erwky days for Bates but I reckon team selections and tactics have already cost us 4 points.

Plenty to be positive about but at the same time tonight was a wasted two points against a decent side in certain areas (the 4 and 8 enjoyed the space our lack of midfield afforded them and the big centre back who equalisedliokee decent) but we really should have had enough to the win the game.

He's still sussing out his best team and trying to force what he thinks are his best players into whatever formation. It'll all come together, league champions rarely start well!

His system definitely needs some tweaks but I don’t think it is miles off. Plus based on what I saw last season I would suggest Harrogate certainly looked like a team that will finish in the top half.

I thought with better finishing we could have been out of sight by half time. Harrogate played the pretty stuff well in and around the box but only because we let them. Defensively they weren't very good at all.

I thought they looked a really good team, as good as anything we saw last year, they will cause anyone problems. Pools seemed a yard of the pace at times, lack of pre season games maybe? Once Again we couldnt cope in midfield the way we set up. We arent far away but if you cant control midfield we will continue to struggle to win games.

I knew he was signing for Chesterfield after I saw him passing through Callow in a black Audi.
