D'yknow what Mr Bungalow, I reckon it is.

I was including Dimi too, I just hope they can gel. It just makes you realise that if we had a striker, we'd walk this division....

Ahh, but is it as good as Reddish, Henderson, Billing and Lynch?

Bases on this ( http://www.poolstats.co.uk/3001_4500/3730.htm )...I would say no

So replace Bracca by Clark and we go from worst defence (Hereford) to best (Donkeys/Mansfield).

By the same logic then, Ben Clark must be our best ever defender.

Its not one player though. Its the four of them together.

If Darren Williams played like he did for most of last season the other three wouldnt look as good.

Does that make any sense? :uhoh:

For a change, yes! It does raise the related issue, however, of whether anyone can realy pick one player out of a team performance for special criticism?

You can only judge on what has been to date. I think Darren Williams deserves a lot of credit after making it very clear he wanted away. His application to the job has put a lot of others to shame especially those who were always 'up for it'. It's a similar situation to Micky Nelson who gained a lot of respect for the way he got his head down last year.

As for the question; Dimi is arguably our best ever keeper. Nelse is certainly the best centre half I've ever seen playing for Pools. Ben Clark makes a great partner for him and with the new lad at left back we have the makings of a very good back four. The goals against column has deried up since they were put together which is a good a measure as any.

I spoke with Russ Green at Sheffield FC pre season. I asked why Williams was part of the 1st team squad and Tommy Butler wasn't despite Williams putting in a transfer request almost immediately. He said it was down to attitude and I think Darren Williams performances this season have justified that comment.

He did suffer from coming from Sunderland at a time when we as fans would have rejected Julio Arca simply because he was an ex mackem. Scott was a mackem therefore we hate them all. Especially Ripper.

Mr Marx, it's not very nice sending people to call centres. You'll be sending them to Gulags next!

are we assuming here that Liddle is going to become a regular fixture at left back?

no problem with that, he's clearly a class act, but if we got another dependable left back in, Liddle could do a lot of damage to teams from the left wing or midfield. do you reckon?

Fair point but he's also a great option where he is. If you don't concede you don't lose.

yeah he's easily the best left back we've got, a very talented player

if i was wilson though i'd keep my eye open for a solid left back for long term which could free up liddle to do teams a lot of damage from other positions
