Apparently it's a coaching role as well - maybe it's not just for money but to continue being involved in football. Colchester received planning permission for a new ground this week - at Cuckoo Farm on the site of an old mental hospital - I kid you not.

Surely it wouldn't be about money? He's strikes me as the type of bloke he simply loves playing the game, and if he can still perform at that level why retire for the sake of it? In a similar way Beardsley ended up with us, he is one of the last of that sort of geneartion that would want to keep playing, somehow I can't see Kieron '80 licks' Dyer turning out at Layer Road in 10 years time....

I must end my post by using a couple of these sctatchinghead as it seems to be the done thing this evening sctatchinghead

I hear what you are saying but I can just imagine him sitting his grand kids on his knee in years to come and saying, 'well I played for Forest when they were a decent side, Manure, Spurs, West Ham and even played for England for 5 years (that's a guess btw). I scored loads and loads of goals wherever I played, was really popular with the fans and even more so with the ladies.................and finished my fabulous career at COLCHESTER UNITED stpid

They all have to finish somewhere and Colchester are a fantastic example of what can be achieved on limited resources.

At least he didn't do a Stuart Pearce and walk straight into a premiershit club.

I hope we are where Colchester are now in a couple of seasons, i'm sure you wont argue with that.

of course I don't, my point is simply that having been such a great player why doesn't he just retire and allow us all to remember him when he was playing at the 'top'.

I don't think 'tap-in Teddy' has got anything left to prove has he?? He can get his game and his coaching experience all in the one package. Good news for both parties. Good luck to him I say.
