OH and myself viewing houses. Viewed a house around the Eden Park area we liked.
Is that area OK now or should we be wary about the history of subsidence?

You're looking to buy a house with Owen Hargreaves?

Checked it out on this shot provided by Hatman Helicopters Division and it looks fine.

I often wonder what is the point of asking question on forums these days. The internet seems to be just full of d1ckheads.

Part of the reason why I don't post on here or other messageboards anymore. Maybe I don't get other peoples humour

It's alright lads after Monkeybutts dog story on the other thread I'm pretty sure the Internet will be getting closed down for good in the next 4-6 hours, it's done.

The planning dept in Hartlepool Council would probably give you any info on any subsidence reports, I think they have an online portal as well.

Personally if there has been historical subsidence issues I wouldn't touch it - saying that the stringent building regs these days will probably reuiqre the house builders to engineer to the conditions, so you would probably be ok. Ask the builder to see what they are doing about it.

Two builders built on the site, which was a historic landfill site. One of them installed the piles for the foundations correctly and the other didn't. The ones that were done on the cheap had the piles shear from the founds leading the houses to subside.

I wouldn't touch the ones with the dodgy founds with a barge pole however cheap they are, but the others are ok. I can't remember who the respective builders were and which houses are ok and which ones are shite.

I agree. What use is a football Forum if it can't provide basic searches on buildings for the cautious home buyer? I went on a general non-league Forum to ask about the neighbours upstairs from a flat I was planning to buy in Ealing and the dickheads mocked me and said they didn't even live there. :angry-screaming:

According to this the problem houses were built by Shepherd Homes:

I thought it was a van hire company if I'm honest.

Private housing estates shooting up on the edges of every feckin' town and village in the North-East.

I'd like to think it's part of a national effort to cope with a rising population/housing shortage except they all seem to be building yuppy hutches for people with a bit of coin (or access to a mortgage they'll never be able to afford to pay off).

The ones built on the left as you go in the darker brick are the ones that are OK and any built around the outside are generally OK it was more the ones in the middle that had the problems

Got to agree. I was on the Builders Wives Forum and enquired about the merits of goal line technology and was appalled at the abuse I received.

Rumour has it they're building houses on the Trading Estate at West View.
A few jobs rather than more little boxes would be more welcome on the site.

That's what it is, I thought the name rang a bell, hired many a car from there in the 90's.
