Our lass has an 08 red Micra. We were gonna trade it in two years ago when we got the new car but decided to hang onto it for going to work in. It's got 120,000 on the clock and just goes and goes. It gets a full service every year and has never failed it's test, but this year it did.
I always said if it did it was going the journey, so was surprised when the garage phoned to give me the reason as I was expecting something major. They told me the horn wasn't working... that was it. £30 sorted.
When it got picked up, the mechanic said it's built like a tank.
It's getting like the pick up on Top Gear they couldn't kill. I now expect the new car to go before the little bugger.
Anyone else had a car like this.

I had my first Golf for about 12 years, sold it when it was about 15 with 140k on the clock. It was still going 2 years later. I only sold it as I inherited me dad's Golf, which lasted until it was 16 years old with about 120k on the clock.

My current Golf is a 53 plate and has done 180k. Paid £700 for it over 2 years ago, last MOT cost me about £270.

I had a Shogun which soldiered on and on.

It had 5 engine rebuilds, 2 gearboxes, a couple of new diffs, countless new tyres and suspension components but just went on and on.

Only had 1 full respray and only had to replace a few panels. Like I said bullet proof.

Had a 1994 Pajero that was like that. Still running fine but I couldn't register it over here so I ended up giving it to my Dad. Also pajero is Spanish for wanker so the badging wasn't ideal near the border.

Had a renault clio. Finally had to trade it in last october with a clutch problem. Could've replaced the clutch but was worried it would be the start of bigger problems.

170K On the clock in the end.
17 years old.
Got £100 trade in.

The only real work done was a new headlight ununit and brakes and and pads every few years.

I beg to differ with Corsas, you rarely see one over 10 years old, which is poor considering how many are sold.
