Does anyone think that the fees being paid for and their wages is so inconsistent? Trevor Carson has reputedly been sold for say around £20,000. Now look at Pickford being sold reportedly for £20,000,000 plus. The 3 England keepers Hart, Butland and Heaton as an example, if sold will be similar to Pickford. Are all of these fellas, very good keepers I suppose but are they a thousand times better than Carson, in fact are they really better than Carson at all? How he didn't get a transfer to at least the Championship?

It's because of the Premier League and the obscene amount of money floating about in it, that is why costs can be multiplied by a thousand. £30 million is like spending £20,000 to some clubs now. Manchester United signed a defender for £31 million yesterday in most papers I bet it gets about a paragraph.

I agree it's the obscene amounts of money floating about but I think it's the 'recruiters' for these bigger clubs just tend to look at players but goalkeepers in particular, at bigger more well known clubs because they get more exposure due to TV etc. I think when you look at some of Carson's performances for pools and Cheltenham as well producing World class saves, certainly as good if not better than some of the previously mentioned. I honestly can't think of one performance when I've left a game and thought Carson had a bad game.

It probably helps Sky justify their stupidly high prices, saying come and see these mega stars who go for obscene amounts of money, why support your local team who's keeper is only worth 1000th of Everton's.

Talking about goalkeepers, I was just thinking about that season when we had those two liabilities in goal. It's the highest we've finished since the season we had those two liabilities in goal. When we had Anthony Williams in goal we did all right too. So maybe it's not the end of the world if we don't have Neuer or Cech. Just makes things a bit harder.

Best goalkeeper ive ever seen was Ray Clemence, I remember the season he only conceded 16 goals in 42 games for Liverpool. A record that will never be beaten I feel.

Do you really think Sky have stupidly high prices? You must get a good hundred games of football from around the world for the price of, or at least not much more than, one game of League One/League Two football.

It's fantastic value if you're going to watch said hundred games. I watch maybe a couple a weekend but I'd always chose to watch it at the pub and spend money on drinks and food.

I personally think it's overpriced yes, god knows how many customers they have but judging by how much they pay the premier league clubs to televise games and still make a vast profit I'd guess most people agree with you that is it's worth it.

I think the first 5'6" of Carson is worth about £20 grand it's probably the top extra foot of Pickford that worth the extra millions.

I'm pretty sure that if I watched 100 games of footy between random teams on the telly I'd seriously wonder what my purpose was on this earth.
