Dave Jones should be gone today. Board is split on what to do but decision seems to be made.

Sacking Jones, which is the correct thing to do, is just the board trying to deflect things away from them.
They should go!

It's needed and welcome, but unfortunately I fear it's too late as has already been said.

All true, but even bad players can show some fight and be given a game plan that is within their comprehension to carry out.

Jones has been a disaster and they may as well let John Hewitson have go at raising standards on the pitch for the last 2 matches.

And suddenly next 2 matches, the players are going to play well...!
Too little too late. Squad should have been strengthened in January.

Ronnie Moore may be willing to take over till the end of the season.

Neale Cooper would but he's recovering from a leg operation.

Sam Collins is another who may be interested.

Brian Honour may be willing to help out with coaching.

Billy Paynter, Rob Jones.

There's plenty of people who would help us out for 2 games but the problems off the pitch would still remain .

It's not about that. We're down, but there's no reason the fans should put up with the abject displays of the last couple of weeks. No improvenent is possible under Jones so why not get rid now rather than in 2 weeks time?

I might want to go to Donny's promotion party for a last look at League football but I sure as hell don't want to watch a 5-0 drubbing.

While it might feel like we're down realistically we're not and until that R is next to our name we've got to keep going. If we somehow muster a win on Saturday (a lift if Jones has gone?) and Carlisle do us a favour then it's back in our hands.

If you think you're going to get beat before you've kicked a ball then you already are.

I hope this is true but it is weeks too late.

Must surely give big Sam a go especially as we only have 2 games and need an immediate response. He already knows everyone and the players seemingly happy to play for him.

Going to be difficult to beat Cheltenham BUT if we do, then we bring them back into the mix. Can't see it but it is the only hope we have left!

It's not all about the manager but he just had to go. Will be a combination of McGuckin and John Hewitson until the end of the season. If only we had big Sam.

Although the owners are still currently the biggest worry at least this gives a chance to appoint a new manager in the close season based on the league we are in to try and gain promotion or push for at least mid table if we have a miracle.

Has there ever been a worse appointment than Jones? Especially based on how optimistic we all were about it he's hardly seemed arsed.

Chip hit it right on the head the problem on the playing side started last close season when we signed three conference players, plus Alexander who had been at York, obviously on low wages. Yes there are good players in the conference but they cost money. We then totally failed to address our problems in January in fact we made them worse.

I have to say I don't think the main issue is who was signed, I think it's how we've used them.

Amond - scored 37 goals as part of a front two partnership. Largely been used as a sole striker / target man.

Deverdicks - attacking midfielder, plenty of assists and goals last season for Dover - used as a left back.

Allesandra - don't think he's been anywhere near being our worst player. Has looked very good at times but often tries to do too much.

Then there was toto, a complete liability for 10% of the time but for the other 90% he looked a very solid defender and probably better than any centre back we have at the moment.

Totally agreed. I don't think the players we signed have really been the problem.

First half of the season we had a reasonable squad which showed promise at times, but was brutally mismanaged by Hignett. Second half of the season we've barely had a squad to use after the January fire sale, and yet again even this semblance of a squad has been mismanaged also by Jones.

The transfer policy wasn't all that bad last summer, it's the subsequent shite that has come after that has doomed us to non-league.

He should be gone, and he shoud have gone weeks ago. He should also be charged with fraud, for pretending to be a football manager.

Plod should then also round up the owners and drown the not nice people.

They should also then seriously think about roundin gup those fans that still STAGGERINGLY appear to be blaming everyone but the owners, including, believe it or not, Jeff Stelling, for, and I quote, "deserting our club"

And yes they have actually said this on a public forum.

On saying that they also appear to be critisising the trust still.........I know staggering.

Well thats be brutally honest here.

The club will survive with a trust. It wont with just an annual fancy dress day.

Well I am joining the trust now, and I am signing up all my family too.

I was waiting for it to be needed, and have that prefessional look about it. With jeff Steeling on board it has everything it needs.

Lets get this club back.

And the same people above are saying a protest wont help the players.

Well fuck the players if they cant be bothered. Any player with half a brain will realise the protest is against the owners and useless manager, and will raise their game in support.

And you know I am right.

The Colonel

Compo: first with the news that Jones is coming, first with the news Jones is, hopefully, on his bike.
Is Compo some sort of James-Bond-type evil genius, sitting in his mountain lair, a puppet master, playing with his pussy while he appoints and ruthlessly disposes of failures ?

Is Einhorn Compo?

Is Clegg involved? and if so where is Foggy?

Pretty much nailed what I was thinking - i can't believe that people are against Jeff - he's put his balls on the line reacting like that - slating the trust... WTF? the surge in membership today has shown people are worried and on board

and as for not protesting incase the players don't like it....

Still arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon - its going to knock the pieces everywhere, shit all over the board and then walk around like its won anyway.

They were to be expected tho? You knew when it was announced about Jeff which ones would say what and which would follow etc.

Some can't see the wood for the trees or just won't change opinion to save face.

You then get ones like GeoffN who are not afraid to think for themselves and can clearly see the positives in the trust.

Honestly, I don't lay a great deal of the blame with the players.

I've seen nearly all of the teams in this division over the last few seasons and barring the odd team who should win the league at a canter and the odd team who are fucking dire, there really, genuinely (in my opinion) is very little between all of the sides.

So with that in mind, it takes a certain amount of luck and that something extra that gives your team an edge in any particular game (as well as confidence from not losing) to make your team into one that is mid-table and higher rather than below mid-table and that something extra, as far as I'm concerned, could be a manager or a really well drilled bunch of very average players who know, exactly, their roles.

This squad, for me, is no worse than the the previous squads under Cooper and Moore or if it is it isn't drastically worse - the reason why we're fucked this season is the players don't seem to have the motivation/direction to perform.

Moore came in and gave everyone a massive lift.

Hignett came in and relaxed the players and gave them confidence (I remember one of the first things he said was 'we're not going down' but how he said it was the difference - absolute 100% belief - I believed him. He cocked things up a bit for me when he said 'I know how I want to play' though lol....surely you play to the strengths of the squad not force players to do jobs they just can't do?)

They both got the players to do enough, either through grit and determination/giving them the boost they needed to perform without fear/whatever it was, to survive and most importantly WANT to survive.

This season it's completely different, there doesn't appear to be any of that. No WANT to save the club. They haven't been given that motivation to break their fucking backs for the cause. For me, this is Jones' failing. You can see it on the pitch. We never had that period of success that is normally a given when a new manager comes in, if we had, we'd be safe already.

How much of that is down to Jones not being given anything to work with in January I don't know but surely a manager with his background would either a) be able to call in some favours or b) walk away quoting no backing from the owners and him having an impossible task.

Which all makes me think the owners and Jones are in cahoots and maybe now because we're all but down, they can sack him as he's done his job of not kicking off when the wage bill was cut because he knew this was going to happen from the start.

I can't believe though, that the owners would actually want us to go down. I don't get how that could be good for them - unless the idea is to run the club into the ground, taking as much cash out before the club goes tits up....but they'd earn more with us in the league surely?

I am still trying to get over what I witnessed yesterday, and am struggling to be honest.

I have been going to Pools for 30 years and I haven't in the context of how importance of the game seen anything as bad as that. It is no exaggeration to say we could have lost that must win game against a poor team with nothing to play for 5 or 6 nil. How a so called experienced manager could sit and watch that first half and not change anything is absolutely beyond belief, its like he wanted us to lose. The midfield were an absolute shambles all three of them. They were 30 or 40 yards off the striker leaving him hugely isolated. How that fuck did Walker play 90 minutes? You could see after 5 minutes that we were going to lose, the players were like a dispirited rabble arguing with each other the body language was appalling. We played with no tempo whatsoever. Even when he threw the kid on who is all right foot he started off with him on the left. It felt like a stitch up!

The bloke can't have any pride in himself or respect for the club as didn't resign straight after watching that. We have all seen some shite in our time but nothing quite like yesterday.

I hate not going to games but from the sounds of yesterday it was no bad thing to miss it.

Instead I watched Felanitx draw 0-0 against Penya Ciutadella in the Spanish third division.
