Why did we let him go?

Decent L2 right back, loads of effort got involved and seemed a decent lad as well.

Why did we not bring him back on loan? He has gone from Fleetwood to Morcombe on loan, I hope Fleetwood are paying his wages as Morecombe haven't got a pot to piss in.

Fetch him back in the Summer!

Same thing- better contract-he would of stayed-we obviously were happy to let him go for nought by putting no effort in to keeping him. In our team now he would of stood out and a decent right back in my book, but good character and grafter as well.

We obviously made some effort as we offered him a new contract.

I said months ago when he was actually at a Pools home game that I'd look to bring him in on loan with Magnay out. It would also free up Donnelly (who went off injured today, jackpot) to play in midfield which would be a benefit on days like today as he can actually put his foot in.

No point really talking about it now though as he's playing for someone else.

If he had stayed he may have been third choice behind Donnelly and Magnay. You cannot help injuries. To be honest he was only an average fullback and generally fullbacks is one of the easier positions to recruit i.e Donnelly.

I liked Duckworth, he was one of the few who used to look up the pitch and drive forward with it. We'd be a much better side with him in it.

Was gutted when he left and said the same on here.

Definitely prefer Duckworth to Magnay, not that I don't rate Magnay but Duckworth is a better footballer.

Didn't he leave because he wanted a more attacking role at full back whereas Moore wanted a more defensively minded full back? Or rather, this was a contributor.

If I remember correctly was Duckworth not dropped on a couple of occasions. I am not saying he was a poor player but that right backs are easily replaced. Yes he was aplayer that excited the crowds with his forward surges but defensively average. I would not have been bothered if he had stopped but he was the one to leave. But he has found out that the grass is not always greener on the other side hence he could not get a look in at Fleetwood.

Moore was long gone when he left but he didn't seem to rate him and singled him out for criticism a few times which might have had an adverse effect on his confidence , Hignett seemed to prefer Magnay at right back and Duckworth seemed to only get in team in midfield. I'm not sure where he played today but I noticed last week it looked like he played in midfield for Morecambe as well. For me by far his best position is full back.

I thought he was better than average defensively.

Or maybe Hignett then :)

I think he improved a lot. As I say I think his problems started after Magnay signed and started to be considered in other positions. I was never convinced in him further forward.

I do think Moore was the start of how he ended up leaving, he unfairly singled him out more than once probably the blokes worst trait as a manager.

Aye, maybe so. Duckworth was never a player I'd have given a bollocking to in any game I recall him playing for Pools.

As I keep saying football is all about opinions and Moore, Hignett, Fleetwoods manager did not think he was a midfielder and I do not think he believes that either.

I don't think he's a midfielder I think he's a good right back.

I'd go as far as to say wing back but would sooner have him at full back. Not a midfielder though.
