I would imagine it's a hard thing to practice in training. Put a football down in training and ask any pro to hit a dustbin lid from 15 yards and the vast majority could do it. Totally different in a real game with the cameras on you plus over 3000 pairs of eyes, opposition in your eye and what probably feels like an eternity to wait.

Remember taking on a Sunday morning once in a cup Semi Final penalty shoot out. In reality it's pub football and it should mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, but by the time I'd picked the ball up and put it on the spot the goal looked half its normal size and the keeper looked massive.

I guess ultimately it's down to an ability to handle the pressure and the more you do it the easier it gets. Paynter always looks completely relaxed when he takes his and seems to hit the bottom corner every time.

Problem is that you could say the same about the team for the Newport game. My guess is that Dave Jones was told what the situation would be before he arrived - cut the squad, sell if you can, young cheap loans only.
