I presume the thing going about on Facebook about internet providers crackdown by down on people streaming stuff through kodi boxes is bullshit?

It's not illegal to stream.

Even the bloke caught selling them "fully loaded" got found not guilty this week.

Not quite, he pleaded not guilty and the trial is set for May, or at least that's what I read

If you think it's dodgy it probably is. Fact is, they'll never chase the end user down as there's simply too many. They'll always aim for the source and that is the guys streaming.

The guy selling boxes 'fully loaded' will surely be let off as he's only selling the hardware with the capacity to watch pirated material, it can also be used legitimately. It's like taking tesco to court for selling a knife that was used as a murder weapon.

The fact he advertises it as able to get live sports for free may be the sticking point there. The top end sources of this are too well protected for anyone to get near them as well. As long as the game is on somewhere in the world then it will be streamed.

If the cashier who sells the knife in tesco knows that it's going to be used to murder someone, then he would be committing an offence.

Buy an amazon firestick then just youtube how to install Kodi and any add ons.

Anyone know if a bricked Android box can be repaired? Just thought I'd ask in case anyone has any experience of them as there's not a great deal of support for the cheap Chinese ones.

The obvious support is youtube, maybe a reflash available.
Possibly OpenElec.

Kodi boxes are great, I bought most of my immediate family one each and they love them.. the only problem I find is using builds they tend to be out of date and I'm forever updating them so I just install the addons for them instead, much easier to maintain

When I was part of the 'scene' I used to run a popular FTP site and IRC channel, that was highly illegal, a couple of people were from hartlepool but I only knew them as Sooty and cptonei - would love to know if the are on this board, they should recognise my username here

If anyone has a kodi box that has a broken build, I'll be happy to reinstall kodi with the build of their choice free of charge

Also, use SPMC instead of Kodi, it's designed specifically for the Android platform by the same guy who wrote Kodi. Much better.
