Why don't the F.A. fine those teams who field a weakened side?
Too many clubs disrespecting the oldest cup competition in the world.

The amount of upsets just goes to show how far a bit of desire and will to win can go.

Pools should take note.

In that stupid Checkatrade Trophy, Pools would get fined for fielding a weakened side.
However if we drew Man Utd at home in the F.A. Cup, Man Utd would play their 3rd team without any fine whatsoever.

I can see the logic behind this, but you'd have considerably fewer shocks. Take this weekend for example, Wolves, Wycombe and probably Sutton would have all been battered.

I'd much rather have the FA Cup as it has been over the last few years with weakened sides leading to shocks. Insisting on full strength sides would fill the latter stages with all Premier League ties, something you can watch every weekend anyway.

In a way it shows that these big teams kids aren't as good as they think they are so the clubs go out and buy more foreigners instead of looking down the leagues at the teams and players that actually beat their weakened teams.

What a joke, I know they have to be rested in case they get too tired, 2 matches in a week is too much for athletes, young men in the prime of their life cannot play footie for 3 hours, FFS. Make them watch Federer v Nadal play four hours, no subs, 100 degrees plus.....real athletes with a desire to win. How clubs are allowed to peddle this shit is tragic beyond belief.

Used to be some good shocks in the FA cup with full strength sides, atmosphere would be bouncing in every round as well.

It's a bit of a draconian punishment making people watch tennis, personally I'd rather be waterboarded.

It's not the players saying they don't want to play in the FA Cup is it the managers are looking after them. I'm sure just about every footballer wants to play every game and most would relish the opportunity to fill their boots against lower league opposition.

And just for a change Manure get easy home ties in the early rounds of the FA Cup and a grateful BBC gives them wall to wall coverage.

To be fair, Mourinho put a strong side out today; he knows the value of a trophy, even if klots like Klopp don't.

Sounds like he fits in in the Premier League on that basis.

Why would you care? As a neutral his teams are fantastic to watch.

BTW English football is no different to any other football its a myth peddled by has-been hacks at red top newspapers to fuel xenophobia.

It's become the Carling FA Cup ! Fans want the chance of a trophy or a final, not 'resting' players incase it might help your team not slip down the table.

Up until about 7 years ago Pools used to take the Cup competitions a little bit serious.
Now we focus on annual relegation battlles. :obscene-tolietpush:

The big clubs and aspiring big clubs would sell their granny for glue if they got a whiff of a chance of a place in Europe. The FA Cup is an irrelevance to them ........ It's all about the money.
