Steve Evans has probably not bid that for him.

Yes, he is a decent prospect. £2m seems a bit exorbitant though - GC will be wanting not far off that then I would imagine for Nathan Thomas....

Shows the caliber of player Moore managed to get on loan if 2million bring bid for him and Tish went for £5mill.

Does every post need to be a thinly veiled dig at the chairman chip

The three lads from the Boro I doubt we're a result of the chairman 'bankrolling the manager' in most instances a club like Pools will pay a sometimes small percentage of the wages sometimes nothing at all. Good loan signings boil down to spotting a player in an U21 match who can do a job at this level then having the contacts and trust with/from the parent club that you'll look after the player. Ronnie Moore was driving all over the country watching reserve games he put the work in to get better quality loan players.

Financially I doubt the three you mentioned from the Boro are much different than the 21 year old keeper we signed today from them.

By the way.....before Ronnie Moore gets too much credit Tishbola had been scouted and requested by Paul Murray as had Mirfin who sadly had been injured in the previous loan window so couldn't come earlier

Yes but Moore did drive to Plymouth to watch Marvin Morgan.

I think the deal breaker was Moores guilt on the impact his wasted journey would have on the environment if he didn't sign him rather than his ability though

Whoever scouted them that's what it boils down to. I heard Coxhall wasn't happy with a couple of the names Hignett came back with at the start of January one being Fewster who he'd had here and not given a chance. You got to get out there and see more players not just lazily sign lads on your doorstep even though we have had three good 'uns from Boro. Hopefully this is something we'll see an improvement on with the new set up.

The wink and the laughing are a clue about that comment.

I wouldn`t expect much transfer news apart from outgoings!

Like who? Unless we got a big bid for Thomas.

I can't see Jones letting anyone go before he's seen much of them. I'd be surprised if one or two didn't come in. The squad is way too big with quantity over quality but he can't really properly trim it until the summer.

Can you really see us signing anyone, unless he has extended his line of credit!

I don't know, neither does anyone but if things were that dire someone like Dave Jones would surely have come nowhere near the job? I'd imagine he'd want to make his mark and and bring in one or two before the deadline.

Yeah well as I recall it was very much Hodcrofts last hurrah, and the last sign of him acting like the Chairman he was when he had Larsens money behind him.

If memory serves TMH were supposed to be taking over throughout January, we didn't look remotely like signing anyone, then just before the permanent transfer window shut Ken came back from the dead.

While he didn't quite go down the route of Freestone/Jones type expenditure, we did finally seem to have some of the financial clout we had in the good old days when it came to the loan signings, some of whom mooted to be costing us a tidy penny.

Other than that, irrespective of whoever has been running the show, most of the time it gets to January we start worrying our best player(s) would be sold. I guess had Thomas not decided to show some incredibly rare loyalty this January, we would have lost another one on transfer deadline day.

I know for fact Luke Williams was a big one to get sorted and money behind it.

FFP hasn't been mentioned since Ken left. Is it still a thing?!

FFP
Wasent that brought in to stop clubs going i to debt.
IE: 50% of Annual Turnover for players wages.
Good to know that Dave Jones is saying 29 proffessionals for a club of our size is way to many so there should be no issues on that side of things.
The mystery of the debt has more questions than answers.
