Just seen where Accrington play. Is this George Michael's legacy or is it related to Wham bars?

stanley 1 pools 0. can,t have richard clarke reffing all your games. on a serious note however its freezing still down here so keep an eye on anything to say if the games on or off. stanley have history on late bank holiday postponed games. leave it as long as possible before you set off unless you hear good news. a couple of hours driving hignett style to get here.

When I saw that it immediately set the alarm bells ringing.
I'll phone Grassy Knollington to see what he has to say.

Good to see we've stuck with the two up front. Richards is a more defensive minded player even if he is no more defensively convincing, might work away from home however why Laurent has been selected I've no idea based on what he achieved when he came on in the last game. I suppose between Laurent and Deverdics he's probably more suited to an away game.
I'd be over the moon with a draw here and hopefully Laurent scores to shut me up.

I think in most people's minds 4 points was the minimum from the last two games but bearing in mind form running up to that, it seemed a slightly distant target. Fair play though, one way or another the team got there and despite lingering concerns I'd say fair play and well done. Good to have a little bit of positivity!

I was thinking that at the Blackpool game, despite the result. Less trying to be Maldini and more Sam Collins League Two battling. The players are what they are - may as well play to their strengths.

Over the years when we have struggled we have needed, and often been saved by, agricultural style defending. The matra is simple mark men, play the way you are facing and if in doubt hammer it out! We play form where the ball lands. This was the mentality of Bill Green, John Rowlands, Tony Smith, John McPhail, Gary Strodder, and despite what people may think David Mirfin and on his better days Scott Harrison !

For once I agree with Chip Sam Collins will bring no nonsense defending to the coaching table. Maybe that will go well with Hignett's more fluent attacking thoughts.

Let's not get carried away. There were two very poor teams out there today, and we were the worst of the two. Really happy to salvage a point and to their credit heads did not drop but there is still an awful lot of improvement necessary.

Same old story today of giving the ball away far to easily and Paynter didn,t look interested at all. Take the point though.

Carroll is a liability, the tackle that caused the penalty was schoolboy stuff, he was skinned several times in the first half and everthing came down that side, going forward he is limited, block his left foot and he has to go backwards, please replace him with somebody who has a scooby!!

Paynter just doesn`t do anything at all, no jumping, no effort, no pace and I know we don`t have another forward but christ, somebody in the reserves must give a shit!

Oates, sorry lad but your bobbins, on the left wing again, no control, no idea and he looks lost.

The rest played quite well and even Richards played his part, only other concern was Bartlett, who didn`t seem to want to leave his goal line.

Oates isn't a winger, he is a striker but has never had a chance in that position.

Let's be honest at the level we play at the lad isn't a footballer. He is fit and mobile but has very little technical ability, for one he can't strike a ball (fairly useful for a striker) he offers zero end product. You can't fault his attitude and work rate though.

I'd stick with Paynter and Amond for a run of games, we've took 4 points from the two games we've played those two up front and they have scored 3 of the 5 the team have between them. I thought Paynter didn't waste a ball on Friday night everything stuck obviously I wasn't there today but maybe he struggled with two games in four days after not being involved much. He's obviously getting on and has limitations but Amond though is a goal scorer and real penalty box striker and I think the best person we have in our squad to play him and off is Paynter.

Have you ever had an ageing dog that you have to drag out of the house for a walk, he doesn`t want to go but you think he needs to?

We were at pitch side yesterday, the same level as Hignett sees it and boy does he need a trip to specsavers, I realise we don`t have many attacking options but even the basic skill set is missing, he trudges around like a tortoise ambling through a field of peanut butter in high heels :hand:

Maybe we should sign Jonathon Edwards? He can jump a bit and since thats the most important attribute in your opinion then we should we unbeatable!

He can`t jump, he coesn`t challenge, he does whinge for a foul after every challenge but doesn`t get it, he is deceptively slow and his one attribute of holding up the ball is diminishing, apart from that I think he is ok and YES a centre forward unless he is under 5ft 9in should be able to get off the bastard ground and challenge in the air.
Do we keep playing him in case we get a penner?

a fair result for me. some may say two poor sides but there,s another 20 poor sides in this division this season. paynter looked ok for me for the first 20 mins but faded quicker than red paint on a 90,s corsa.

All of the above, Amond has scored in both of these games, it's been said many times on here that he extremely successful last year playing in a front two.

Paynter is a bit of an enigma for me, he doesn't look dangerous, but he's keeping at least one centre rarf permanently occupied and will score goals if the opportunities comes his way.
