We were a different team in the 2nd half, very lucky 3 points.

Listening to the game on Poolsworld I got the impression we were inviting a sending off. That Toto fella seems a liability. However the table doesn't lie and the breathing space has just got wider.

Had amond 3-1. Happy with 3 points however but the £300 would have been welcomed.

1st goal great strike and 3rd goal was outstanding.

That's where praise stops, after 3-0 we were appalling. Tactically shocking and makes you question if hignett is purposely trying to mess things up.

Morecambe were shocking and fact we made something very comfortable turn into a battle sums up how poor we are. 2 of the worst teams in league and shows why both are where we are.

Very welcome 3 points though before I get jumped on after a win which was very important.

Thought Toto was very fortunate. Was reckless the way he dived in, could easily have been a red.

I had a couple of decent bets on the game myself, and didn't enjoy the second half as much as I enjoyed the first. Piss weak defending for that last goal.

After we went 3-0 up so early I had written it off so it wasn't too bad!

What is it with the 1 peg left footers, Both Carroll and Deverdicks are flimsy characters, always looking to back out and play backwards, make them practice with their right feet or zap the bastards!

The simple change when Paynter was to bring Oates on and stay with the formation. Instead he went with just 1 up front and we could have lost it. Oates was signed as a striker but Hignet just won't play him there.

If they'd scored their second goal even ten minutes earlier anything could have happened.
The team seems devoid of any characters, just lots of lightweight runners busy going nowhere at breakneck speed. The three points are welcome but I don't see anything to really reassure me. They're like a delicate Italian sports car, liable to go all temperamental and fall to pieces when you need them to perform.

How could we have lost it Geoff? They scored twice but never even had another noteworthy chance.

For all their possession in the second half, it took a massively deflected effort and a goal mouth scramble in the dying seconds for them to get anything.

Of course we could have lost it. Lot of ifs involved, but we could have lost it.

Go on then, explain how a team who only had 2 shots on target could get 4 goals from it.

Hopefully the rumours are true and he is off somewhere once the window opens, he's no good for my blood pressure.

The other two starting centre backs played well, Harrison was back to something like his best ( albeit not really tested ) and Donnelly rightly got man of the match.

Not sure what formation we were playing immediately after going 3-0 up like, Hawkins seemed to be virtually playing right back ( clearly not his best position ) and picking up Ellison, before we eventually switched to the conventional back four with Donnelly going right back.

Fair play to Hignett for getting the three points and picking a starting line up that raised eyebrows, not sure I agree with the negativity in the second half because I don't think we are good enough to sit back and invite teams on. Had we stuck with the 3-5-2 and continued going for it I suspect the scoreline would have been a lot more convincing because they really were bobbins at the back and the keeper dropped every cross he came for.

As the old saying goes, sometimes the best defence is to attack, could and should have won by more.
Glad we did not throw it away,.

I hope Hignett learns from this,...as he is so fond of saying!!!! I would imagine some of the players were as frustrated as the fans at his second half tactics? Thank fuck we won.

Just seen the goals back again, great goal from Amond. Didn't appreciate it that much live.

Laurent missed his header in the 6 yd box for their 2nd goal.

It often happens with young players they come into the team and do well initially then they have a dip not being used to the grind of week in week out League football. Give him a rest for a while before the nuggets start slaughtering him, no drama.

Thought we were lucky with the penalty as it looked like Paynter or Amond clearly pushed somebody in the back, the highlights don't show it like.

They ended up with more shots than us, more possession, and more corners. Which you would have found hard to fathom after the first 30 minutes.

I can sort of see where Mr B is coming from, but he seems to be overlooking the bloke hitting the underside of the bar ( looked like it might even have bounced over the line ) just before half time. They had two blokes totally unmarked six yards out and still managed to fuck it up.

Sitting back and slowing the game down just played into their hands.

The initial comment was along the lines of we could have lost it when Paynter went off so I disregarded their chance in the first half.

I appreciate we went way too defensive, but the reality is they got a flukey goal at the start of the 2nd half then we kept them at arms length for the remainder until the goal mouth scramble with 40 seconds left.

They only had 2 on target. They were unlucky with the one that hit the bar. Apart from that, they had nothing that came anywhere close to troubling us.

Of course it was possible to lose it. As things turned out we didn't, but we could have. You are talking post match, were you saying during the match we couldn't lose ? Any team can lose a match in progress, it's only certain when the final whistle blows.
