There was a thing on the radio about him the other day, and I can't be the only one who thinks his music wasn't all that good? Had the odd decent track, but a lot of his output was dirge which hasn't aged well at all.

Fair enough. Just that when Bowie died and they played his work from the 60s to the present day, hardly any of it was dated and irritating. Prince had a purple patch (!) In the 80s which was pretty cheesy at best.

My definition of shite music is either songs by people who have no musical talent whatsoever (e.g., Duran Duran) or those who are completely on a pisstake (the likes of Lil' Wayne).
That doesn't mean I like everything else; I definitely don't. But I'd call that annoying, boring, unoriginal, etc., not shite.
