Did anyone see this coming I didnt? I thought our season would be promotion push, playoffs at least.

its turning into a struggle and avoiding relegation after what I saw yesterday, I come out the ground and noticed how muted a lot of people were, you usually hear some comments...I didn't yesterday.

If we had any sort of form we would be in the top six the tables crazy this year.
the way its panning out it could go to the last day of the season.

It certainly was the bad old days, of years gone by what I saw.

Didn't see it coming but looking at the defence, Hignett gambled big time on the fitness and form of Jones and Bates.

Nsiala is a liability at times and our full backs can't defend.

Chip constantly mentions the centre backs we've had over the last few years, we're desperate for a Mirfin or a Jackson right now.

The whole "we'll try and outscore the opposition" is a really shitty outlook in my opinion. Absolutely no confidence in the defence whatsoever.

Jones wasn't even that good really last season was he other than his debut?

And if we talking about gambling on fitness, magnay has been injured (and suspended) for more games than he's actually played.

Whole team is fucked. It's ok though, we have about 8 centre backs and about 6 central midfielders of which none are particularly good enough

Personally I don't see much point in harking back to the likes of Jackson, Mirfin or Burgess, or for that matter any of the loan players who've made a real difference to Pools over the last five years. They were never 'our' players, and they're all with bigger clubs who presumably pay better money than us. Tshibola certainly is! Maybe there was a chance of signing Jackson - I've no idea what sort of deal he's on at Barnsley.

More to the point, with Emergency Loans gone, the days of compulsive wheeler dealers like Ronnie Moore are pretty much over. Hignett signing Fewster and Heardman on 6 month loans in the summer couldn't have worked out worse than it has. Were two loan strikers really needed? Were they his preferred option to getting in some midfield or defensive cover?

As it is, Hignett has fallen out with the Borer over them ending Fewster's loan when he thought the lad was nearly ready to play again. And whatever happened to Heardman? He never seems to get a mention, but according to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle he's still on loan at Pools and 'unused' every week.

If Pools don't find some backbone in the squad they've got over the next 3 games, they could be bottom of the League by the time the transfer and loan market reopens on January 1st. Never saw that coming!

You never go into a season with such thoughts. You can have expectations of the team but it doesn't translate into success on the field.
A season is like a marriage, you start off all starry eyed, turns to ups and downs and becomes a compromise. You can always get a divorce, but you know it wouldn't be the same with someone else.
