Not played it for a while due to my laptop not being good enough to handle it :( and don't fancy paying £600 or something for a laptop to play it at reasonable speed. I see you can buy a toned down classic version for a tablet? Anyone tried it?

It's shit. Just download Champ Man 00/01 free and legally on your laptop and relive the glory days of the series.

Nothing beats FM on a PC/laptop. A mate of my brother still plays champ man 01/02 but with recent updates. Somebody out there is still making these updates which is brilliant.

There's a full website with people still dedicated to keeping it going. It's a thousand times better than the recent ones. Sell Tony Williams for 300k, Barron for 650k and Graeme Lee for similar then go on a spending spree.

This was the best one! Couldn't beat getting Taribo West on a free at the start and Marco Materazzi for £5mil in a relegation release clause after one season and Javier Saviola as a striker!

You can get 600k for Williams, 500k for Hollund, 1m for Barron, Lee, Humphreys, Widdrington and sometimes 500k for Arnison, 400k for Stephenson and 400k for Easter....with selling some others you can make some proper coin. It wasn't unusual to have 6.5m to blow...

To Madeira was a God if you could get him. Baldur Bett and Byron Bubb were quality. Garforth's Carl Fox was decent and Leo Fortune-West was a bit of a goal machine as was Peter Weatherston...

...used to play the game to death.

The CM01/02 updates are decent too. Don't get loads of time to play the game these days though.

i got a toshiba satellite from pc world about a year ago for 300 and i get 5 starts for speed and performance on FM every time. its like a TB hard drive, not sure what that is exactly but i believe its huge.

and i agree with all that about the handheld FM its terrible. you dont really have any control over the team when playing games, tactics and formations are shite. would be ideal if they got the full version available on tablet

gunna have a look into that champ man download 00/01 was a bit before my time, first one i got was fm 2005 still have it today still spend hours on it

I'm playing both the up to date one (started unemployed, now managing Sutton Utd) and CM 01/02 (which I still have the original CD for) with the current updates and tapani patch. lets you start the game in 2014 with current players, teams, leagues etc. The latest one is more realistic in that you can't just sign anyone on a free like you could on CM 01/02 by twisting their arm with a big enough signing on fee and daft clauses. I play the latest FM on my modern PC, which is usually hogged by our lass looking for furniture/curtains/kitchens/other shite and run CM 01/02 on an old Toshiba satellite with 1GB of ram and shite Celeron processor. Still is able to run al the leagues and full databases nice and quick. Quality game.

FM can be lethal when in full addiction mode, I remember many nights staying up til 3am just to get to the end of the season then getting up at 8am for college. Worth it though.

I'm surprised the tablet version of FM has taken some stick but then CM01/02 has been hyped in this thread.

I fell out with the FM series on the PC when it started to get too involved and it would take weeks to finish a season.

I love the tablet version of FM as it harks back to the CM days of old - not too involved and you can whip through a season in a day.

they introduced a classic mode recently on the PC game. apparently its a watered down version for people who don't have the time to commit to the full game. im not sure what the differences are but apparently you can get through a season much quicker than the full game. i guess theyve took out a lot of the key features like training and watered down the tactics to make it quicker, but as im a student and have all the time in the world to waste on the full verson ive never bothered with it

ive bought the handheld one a few times hoping for improvements but its the same every year. all you do is sign players put them into a formation and send them out to play a game thats over in a minute without you really having any control over it apart from making subs.

From what i read the classic version is a more detailed version of the tablet version but not as detailed as the full game. So a bit in between.

Used the tablet version and the PC version and compared to the full game the mobile version is awful nowhere near as detailed as it should be

On tablet Football Manager Classic is alright, Football Manager Handheld is pants though. Handheld is based off the mobile one whereas Classic is based off the classic version of the PC one.

Does 15 install through Steam?

If so can I install the game while connected to Internet but play without connecting to net? Or won't it let you?

My record is on FM2007, took Pools from L2 to Prem and by 2024 Had won Prem, League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup and World Club Cup loads of times.

Mr Tree if your laptop is old/slow play FM 2007 or 8. IMHO better than the moderner versions. I also have a few tips/hints.

Just save the game when you get the offer and then accept the job and save as a new file. No regrets as can play either.
