Horrendous game ahead.

How many offsides just in case of a tie break situation?

For some reason I've fancied him for a hat trick all week, I think I'll be having a bit of that at 14/1.

Of course he'll either get injured or sent off now, probably both.

No chance of it being off its forecast to be dry for most of the day, looks like it's going to be windy though.

Odds of 7-1 for Stamford leading at half-time looks like a decent bet, but Pools will come through in the end.

3-1 Pools Amond, Paynter, Walker!

This is why I was trying to convince snowy about the importance of handwriting.

I wrote 3 0 there but it looks like an 8.

Can I still claim a share of the prize.

It was a deserved and fairly straightforward win but aspects of the game and the way we set were still massively frustrating. Surely we should have started with a front two against such limited opposition, I honestly think that could have been any score we wanted had we been a bit less tippy tappy and more high tempo and had Paynter on the pitch for longer than ten minutes. I know ther were gone when he came in but we scored twice and had perfectly good goal chalked off actually playing with two out and out strikers. The fact we laboured to break down a pub team with the same system we haven't won a home league game with is surely a sign he has to change it?

Starting games with Billy Paynter, rather than on the bench might help !

Is it possible to have an embarassing 3-0 win ?
80 minutes playing tippy tap against a team that looked the underdog.
If there's any plan or tactics out there I couldn't see any evidence of it.
Our manager looks like someone determined to make a system work that patently doesn't.

I don't think it was embarrassing, they barely had possession of the ball for the entire match and we deserved to win by a decent margin but it was frustrating the lack of tempo we played at. The first half especially was like a training session at times.

I very nearly caught fecking pneumonia watching that turgid tripe. Three nil definitely flattered us as, although we had almost permanent possession, we never remotely looked like doing anything positive with it. An excellent free kick and tiring part-timers put a gloss on the result. Not for the first time in the last God knows how many home games we lacked anyone with drive, vision, leadership, initiative or purpose. The fact that a lot of fans voted with their feet might be of concern to the owners.

Think fans "voting" was more down to the silly ticket prices to watch us v a part time club and the weather.. I know I was in two minds before I bit the bullet and went

Three nil didn't flatter us at all. It wasn't great watching and lots of our play was flawed but we should have won by a bigger margin then three of the balance of play. We actually scored four as Amond a perfectly good goal wrongly ruled out. They missed the one big opportunity they had with the free header just before half time that might have upset the apple cart but we were never in any bother really. I'm not sure why we needed Featherstone playing as deep as the centre backs at home to team like that and I'm not sure why we keep persisting with a system at home that doesn't work but nothing was flattering about the scoreline at all.

It wasn't a particularly good performance, the most annoying factor was the lack of width all game. I'm not quite sure what formation we were playing today either. It was very frustrating watching us trying to walk the ball into the net through all the congested bodies!! I really don't know what we are going to do without Thomas.

On the plus side it was nice to see bates back and paynter getting a goal.

How did Bates play with one leg this week? Was there an extra minutes silence for his dead one?

Don't think many teams impressed against lower leagues opposition yesterday.

People seem to think we should have went out and put a show on. It doesn't work that way, the win is all that matters and we got it comfortably.

Some of the morons comments on Facebook are embarrassing.

I agree with that as well, it was almost a comical physical miss match watching him bounce the Stamford forwards away on the rare occasions they did have the ball and get near the box but he is actually very accomplished and tidy on the ball, not something I thought I'd say after seeing him the first few times when he looked a bit of a nervous wreck. Hopefully Bates can stay fit because those two could compliment each other, I also thought Jake Carroll had a decent game today after being off the boil for a few weeks.

I gave it a miss- nearly always do against non-league opposition because it's a no-win situation for teams like Pools. Lose and you're a laughing stock; win by anything less than 5 or 6 and it's still not good enough. I predicted 3-1 with Stamford ahead at half time - well, they didn't manage to score but Pools getting 3 in the second half against a tiring team of part-timers 6 tiers below Pools wasn't exactly rocket science.

Hoping for a home draw against another non-league team in the second round - and I'll only be 50:50 to go to that. The FA Cup gets interesting when Pools are the underdogs.

We had nearly all the possession , but couldn't do a thing with it till Hignett finally saw sense and changed his formation to what it should have been from the outset. But doing it that close to the end had me seeing the unlikely prospect of holding on for a draw.
Having all the possession and doing nowt is like a starving man having a bank account full of money but not buying food.

Maybe they were knackered and made mistakes in the second half because we had so much possession? Chasing the ball and constantly defending is hard work and it takes an even greater toll on players who only train part time.

I would certainly have taken 3-0 before the match and although it wasn't thrilling stuff I'm happy to be in the hat for the next round with no new injuries, no humiliation and a home win at last.

The first goal killed them. They had to stop defending in numbers. We were patient, too patient for many fans, but it worked and we're in the 2nd round draw.

Despite the fact we weren't amazing there has been a clear improvement over the last few year when playing teams at that level.

24 minutes we had our first shot at goal and that was from Richards!!! The second one was the rather heavy back pass again from richards to Carson on 30 minutes
