No-one asked the obvious question. If the brexit vote was an affirmation of parliamentary sovereignty, why is everyone getting so cross about a HC decision that affirms parliamentary sovereignty?

I am fimding it all hilarious. Those that voted brexit seem to have absolutely no idea what this all should mean.

Think it was the black guy in the audience that made rhe great point.

The judgement was correct so all the mps need to do now is debate brexit and then vote through the decision to invoke article 50.

But of course this judgement means the mps have to vote for it now. and most dont want to. so will be exposed.

Its a brilliant judgement.

And what better way to delay brexit.......than to appeal against this judgement.

Or worse have a snap election which will just make the whole thing even more chaotic and funny.

Referendums are the political cowards way out. The reason I say this is because they only propose them when confident they're going to win. When they go the wrong way for them chaos ensues.
The board will now sink into vitriolic 'debate' insults traded and prejudices on both side reinforced.
A depressing prospect.
Can we lump all this under one title so the rest of us can avoid the bollox and concentrate on the decent stuff like piss taking and complaining about Pools.

As the Colonel says the black guy hit the nail in the head. Also the Lady from the Economist and Varofakis when we where all made to look like knuckle dragging racists the other week. Sweetheart deals are already being made behind closed doors (Nissan) .We need answers as we haven't got a clue what's happening. Leaving the future of the country in the hands of a group of unelected right wing morons is unbelievable.

When people voted for Brexit, most had the belief that if the vote was Yes, then the UK would leave the EU.

But nobody, and that includes the MP's, had any idea as to how this was logistically going to happen.

MP's represent their constituents.......or they should. So therefore quite a lot of MP's should vote to reject the Brexit result, as that is what their constituents voted for.

But the way Farage, and the leavers see it, the MP's should ignore what their constituents have said, and "just get on with it".

Going against our whole parliamentary democracy.

It was never discussed this way during the debate and vote. Therefore we are now left with this mess, that I believe is almost unresolvable.

I hope this puts a stop to referendums (referenda?) altogether.
Ridiculous strategy, for any issue that needs thought. For instance, apparently, a majority of the population are in favour of capital punishment so, if we abided by a referendum on the subject, we'd have to bring back hanging regardless of the fact that many people won't have considered the implications of doing that, at all.

Are you suggesting we have a referendum, to decide whether to stop referendums?

Thick people shouldn't be allowed to make decisions about things they haven't got a clue about.. Warning signs went up as soon as Right Wing Loonies (who are coincidentally loaded) started campaigning for the leave vote.

Yes, Bishop. But only people selected by me are allowed to vote. The others can vote on whether to eat quorn or not.

Amen to that. With all due respect to Mr. PiN, nobody has 'won' anything; the country is hopelessly divided as a result of the referendum and anybody who can see a positive end to this mess is a supreme optimist.

If the Tory government had any sense they'd withdraw the High Court appeal, hold the parliamentary vote next week and then call a general election. As they're obsessed with their own non-existent unity they won't do that, this ridiculous state of limbo will drag on for months and people on both sides of the argument will get more and more angry and entrenched in their views.

Then there'll be a general election anyway, and that will be about as pretty and 'healing' as the Trump/Clinton car crash.

So yes please, piss taking and footie on here!

Theresa May should call an election for no other reason that to completely humiliate the Corbynistas.

Corbyns team will be shitting bricks if they call an election now. Infact he might have already shit himself to death, as he appears to have disappeared during this very important time for our country.

I'm looking foward to the UKIP Conservative coalition after the next election. Wonder if they'll make membership of the party compulsory for all new grammar school kids..

The trouble with the ruling is that UKIP have just become relevant(?) again. Look on the bright side, if there is a snap general election you might get rid of Wright.

Well I did start the thread to get some funny ideas about ridiculously inappropriate people selected to do jobs or present shows etc but a good political debate has ensued :)

I had the sort of Chris Eubank goes caravanning type thing (I think that was one of Alan Partridge's suggestions)

Ah well yeah but still, it was Huey from Fun Loving Criminals as a Question Time panelist. It amused me anyways, and one thing he got right for sure is that the referendum has created a divided country as evidenced in all of our threads during and since the referendum.

I've stated many times before which side of the fence I'm on but won't repeat it suffice to say I REMAIN committed to the debate ;)

There needs to be a solution. The £ on our pocket is worth 20% less abroad ..Petrol is 20% higher. Inflation is on the rise and a rise in interest rates is just around the corner. The sooner this is just put forward as a stupid idea and is binned altogether the better.

I've said before sometimes what "the people want" is not the answer.

Right here it is, the definitive answer to this thread.

A) Mr Haircut wants all political debates chaired by a past it celebrity.
B) The Colonel is worried about the pound / Euro as he is worried about the current price of his Sovereign rings, all 10 bought from Claire's accessories.
3) Mr Offshore quite rightly has pointed out that democracy doesn't work. I will offer him a job when I am Dictator.
6) Mr Snowy should stop being sensible.
D) Ms Grabec talks sense.
7) Mr PIN lives in Nottingham, so is/is not to be allowed a political view.
23) Its obvious the American 2 party politics works better than our 1 party political system.
9) Mr I does not fancy Mrs May as much as he fancied Mrs Thatcher.

Right as chief Bunker political analyst (self appointed) do I win?
