Why do women watch such depressing films ?
Now the Xmas season has started on Sky the wife asked me if I'd recorded any films for her. In a fit of mischief I said I had and made up two ludicrously titled films. Orphaned at Xmas and Mammy dies on Boxing Day and left it at that. Later she asked where those two films are as she can't find them on the planner.

Some of the things our lass wants me to sit through are horrendous. Usually featuring someone who has a completely cursed existence but has a glimmer of light that is ultimately extinguished in tragic fashion. Something like Jude the Obscure.

I prefer something like Sex Lives of the Potato Men or Shaun the Sheep.

Isn't there also some set of books about orphaned or disabled kids that I imagine only women have ever read?

Don't tell the bride, where razor faced bubble headed petulant barbie clones sulk while their equally dim daft lad boyfriends spend the budget on the stag night and rig up a makeshift do . The future brides spend their time whinging about the wedding not being what they want ( well pay for it yourself you fool) and when their boyfriend and his pissed mates organise a wedding in a working abattoir to a bemused guest list, she becomes putty in his hand despite the bile she's spouted for the entire programme.

Just a stinging footnote.
I asked her in the car why she likes watching crap films where there was always such depressing outcomes. "How long gave you been going to Pools?" she said
