Given the way the season's gone so far, is it vital for Pools to not just win, but win conclusively against Stamford .

These games are never easy, Cambridge went to Old Trafford after holding them to a 0-0 at their place. I'd take a win.

Just because.

And because one game a season does not make.

I'm hoping for a 4-0 up at half time scenario or something else convincing which will shut those BBC Bastads up.

I don't think there is a huge gulf between League Two and League One either to be fair.

Wimbledon were very ordinary last season and they're doing fine.

I think the difference in quality starts about two thirds down the Championship (ie the bottom 7 or so in the Championship could well be just as avergae in League One)

The differences obviously appear where you either have a load of cash or an extremely well run smaller club with a plan beyond one season and the chairman/manager to pull it off (Bournemouth)

11/1 for a Stamford win. They beat a mid table conference side away in last round at odds of 11/1. If the gap between league 2 and the conference isn't that big then 11/1 is huge right?

11/1 was for 90mimutes and I believe they won on Penalties or extra time.

I'd want at least 20/1 to be honest even but then again we won't lose so I'm not fussed.

It's debatable whether it's vital but I do agree with the sentiment that this is an excellent chance to get some confidence into the team. Whether we take the chance is another kettle of fish altogether!

I kike a good cup run. The prize money comes in useful, plus the possible tv revenue, and maybe the chance of a future "Glamour" tie. Good cup runs also tend to invigorate the supporters helping boost home attendances. Then there's the boost to player confidence.

I rest my case M'Lord.

Wouldn't it just be great to see a home win at last, regardless of the opposition ?!

They were 2 up with 4 minutes to play and bossed most of the game just like Blyth and Salford did against us. Sunday will be a nervy game. Rather be on them at 11s than Pools at 1/7.

We were lucky in the Salford home game as we were staggeringly shite the Blyth game we were well on top first half and should have had the game won with one of the poorer teams we've had. Even second half when we were awful we had a perfectly good goal not allowed and should not have lost.

Stamford are inferior opposition compared to both though.

It's not going to be easy but if we approach the game properly and start it well we should win it and progress. It's good in a way that after the last few weeks it's become a really big game, if the players aren't up for it we have a serious problem in the dressing room.

Wrexham had 64% possession and had 37 shots to Stamfords 8.

And still lost. Wrexham were 2 down till the last 4 minutes. Can see us having those stats Sunday. Not sure about the result. Don't understand why you think this is a done deal already. Not won a game at home all season and point off the drop. Failed to beat non league teams in past 3 games in 90 minutes, 2 of which were at home. We may well go on to win but my original point was the odds are wrong.
