...a Mag at work yesterday winding up the Mackems/Smoggies with the craic "Newcastle were the last North East team to win a Premiership home game".

So that's us, Boro and the Mackems not won a home game between us this season so far.....the North East... hotbed of football :uhoh:

Surely the 'hotbed' refers to the fans ? We might be fickle, but we don't score goals.
As for the 'Mags', looks like they've found their level of winning football, but they have no equals when it comes to kidding themselves that the division they're in is the one that counts. Delusional entitlement syndrome.

I think(but not sure) that was at Sunderland.

Newcastle will win something in the next five years if Benitez stays. As managerial appointments for clubs just relegated for the Championship go that is an especially good one. Let's be honest they are one of the biggest clubs in England, now they have ditched the ridiculous transfer policy and given someone like him full control of the football side of things I can see the Geordies becoming in unbearable again in the next few years

They'll win the Championship for a start, probably by a big margin.

Not bothered about Sunderland as their fans seem a simple bunch. Boro fans just moan every week and I'd love to see them with a relegation again, hopefully that'll cheer them up.
As for Newcastle, they're slowly becoming a very good side the bits I've seen of them. Not just for the championship either, I'd not be surprised to see them comfortably top half next year.
They made a £50 mil profit on transfers yet still taking the championship by storm, just think how long it took Middlesbrough to get back up.

But when Newcastle lose we all get to see their fans hiding their faces whilst punching horses.

Whic is great comedy TV.

And Newcastle fans....? They appear to be a combination of the Boro and Sunderland fans, but without the ability to comprehend they aren't a top club.
( Top club being defined as one who has actually won something as opposed to filling the ground with the gullible)

I'd disagree with them being a combination, more like a dafter version of a mackem who fall repeatedly for their chairman's latest scheme to appease them.
