After 40 odd years I've just found out that this song by 'Sheer Elegance' back in the seventies is actoally 'Life is too short girl' and not 'life is two short girls' as I believed.

I always thought it was about a dwarfs orgy.

For years (whilst in my teens) I used to think Thin Lizzy's 'Boys Are Back In Town' had the line "Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Dino's bar in Rhyl" !! (rather than bar and grill). But when I was in my 20's, I found out that it wasn't !

Arthur and the Muffins would make a good transgender tribute act to be fair.

I thought part of the song 'beggin' where they sing '..beggin you..' was '..peggy sue..' until my missus took great pleasure in correcting me when I sang along to it in the car. Twat.

I have to read the lyrics to all songs. I could listen to a song endlessly and never hear the proper lyrics.

Is this an appropriate thread to say RIP to Grimsby's king of soul Rod Temperton? Modest guy who wrote some wonderful music.

The Foundations - Build me up buttercup. One line I sang for years 'on the stylophone waiting for you'. Little bit of Rolf there!

For a long time I thought Riders On The Storm included:

"There's a killer on the road, his brain is squirming like a toad."

Obviously couldn't have been true because a poet like Jim Morrison would never get away with that sort of shite.

As a 5 year old sat cross legged on Jesmond Road assembly hall I always thought "Kum Ba Ya" or however it is typed was actually "come my arm" and was about someone who had lost his arm in a horrific accident and was calling it to return.

Fuck knows why.

Then again, turning 'Take a long holiday' into 'Take A long holiday' so that the scansion works with the next line is the mark of poetic genius, surely?

Only the Americans can do these things. Like Lou Reed rhyming 'clerk' with 'work' in Sweet Jane - us mere mortals know that 'clerk' rhymes with 'bark' but that would have ruined the song.

In the car with the wife and Smoke on the water came on....."I know this one" and when it came to the words 'smoke on the water' she jumped in with 'smooooooth operator'..... Hadn't the heart to tell her, she was belting it out and can turn quite violent in these situations, so I joined in as well

When I was younger I wondered why The Jam were singing "Rita's a right one, Rita's a right one". I thought she must be a right slapper or something, then I found out the real lyrics.

I'm not violent or violent in these situations, so just laughed at myself!

These things have been around for over half a century.

In Del Shannon’s signature song Runaway, when it gets to

I'm walking in the rain
Tears are fall'n and I feel a pain

The second part sounds like 'In my balls I feel a pain"
I actually used to sing those words in me gigs and nobody noticed.

Mr Elvis C I do believe you are incorrect, didn't Cher sing the Sheep, Sheep song? That was no 1? "If Ewe wanna know if he loves Ewe so its in his kiss" ?

Yesterday I googled how to spell a word that I thought I had never seen written down before.... "enade" was how I was expecting it to be spelt but no sign of it at all.

When I asked our lass, she looked at me like I was thick as shit and I dont blame her.

Since I was a kid I always thought it was "whats that enade of?" and I have no idea why! As soon as she told me in its "in aid" I probably felt even stupider than Turner when he signed "left footed" Behan.

I don't think anyone will let it affect their opinions of you. I think it should be added to the Bunker's autofilter.
