Very similar action to Paul Adams former South Africa spinner. His bowling though like a lot of it in the IPL looks absolute dog muck once you get past his bizarre action.

It's becoming only watchable with the sound off. The amount of plugging and stuff the commentators have to read off a script is embarrassing. The Ceat tyres tactical advert break sorry timeout, them constantly showing that fucking car that they have to cream over. I hope all the commentators are getting paid well because they are selling their soul. Richie Benaud would be turning in his grave!

Richie Benaud probably is turning in his grave, and could turn the ball on them wickets too!

Everything is sponsored, I doubt they can even go for shite without having to announce who is sponsoring it. The presentation ceremony after the games is the most cringeworthy thing I've ever seen. You can see the dignity slowly draining out of the players faces. I'd love one of the commentators to lose it on air "Oh look it's that fucking car again, it's red and has both forward and reverse gears whoopee fucking do" as he's getting dragged out of the commentary box straight into a taxi to the airport.

I saw that Mark Stoneman got man of the match for Durham the other day after the game was snowed off, do know what he got? A crate of Fosters. *Best Geoffrey Boycott voice* "Proper crickeeet"

I hear what you are saying but how do you square what you have said above with the fact the the ECB have sanctioned a player to go and play in it, even though the County season has started?

Is county cricket now thought of as second rate, even by the authorities?

It is for an established international like Buttler, you've got to balance it out. It's probably more beneficial for him (especially his back account) and England for him to play in IPL. It's probably a lesson they've learned from KP.

The county championship is to identify and establish talent, it's been second rate long before the IPL, since central contracts were introduced England players rarely play in it.

I wasn't being serious (although Stoneman did receive the crate of Fosters!) four day cricket is never going to be a 'product' but it is good hard cricket that helps identify talent who might be good enough to play for England. The fact they play most of it now in the early weeks of the season tells you they aren't expecting many people to watch it. It's so Test players can get three or four games in before the International stuff starts and it creates room for white ball cricket in the middle of the summer when counties can attract crowds and make money.

The game has changed completely.

Its to do with availability and money , Durham have had John Hastings for the last few seasons, I think he played all of last season but now he's broke into the Australian team and getting contracts in various T20 competitions all over the World. Players like Viv Richards came over here every summer because it was financially lucrative and cricket wasn't getting played anywhere else in the World during our summer. You used to see Test players playing club cricket over here, you'll know that being from the collieries! Now you will only see a top quality International player at an English county for a window during the summer, either during the T20 when he's getting well paid, a young player like Kane Williamson or Pujara who Yorkshire got a couple of years ago because the International management thought the experience on our wickets against the Duke ball would be good experience or players right at the end like Sangakkara.

They just don't need to do it anymore financially, and don't have availability to do it anyway. A few players around the World could benefit from it as well, people rave about Virat Kohli on flat wickets against a white Kookaburra ball. He is a fine player but he looked hopeless on his last tour of England, a walking wicket. Not in the same class technically as the likes of Tendulkar or Dravid, he'd probably be better if he had have had a season or two over here.

Even without the International players division one of county championship is a very good standard of cricket which is what the ECB have strived for really, yes the crowds might have been better with one division, 18 counties and two International stars but the England team was rubbish. 16 of the teams had nothing to play for by June, now it's hard competitive cricket like the Sheffield Shield was when Australia used to regularly slaughter us.
