Is that bizzare pub with thatched roof still there behind the fence end at Oxfords ground? It was like a medieval inn!

Fringe players or 1st team we we're better against Accrington. Players didn't seem like they even wanted to win today.

If we had a goal threat like theirs, we would have won that, had the bigger % of possession and bossed the middle, Xavi and Hawkins were very good and everywhere.

Bossed the middle? We lost the game in the middle, Featherstone wasn't effective today, but has been good since Hignett has come in. Hawkins may cover ground but doesn't hardly tackle and hasn't effected a game since his goals at Barnet.

I thought we were poor in lots of areas today. It's ok having the ball but it's what you do with it.

This James fan club thing I would like explaining. Why people would or wouldn't sign him when you take on wages, goals, assists and what else could we get for our money. We didn't want Howard for his goal scoring record but we need to sign James. He'll be alright once he gets to play up front hasn't seemed to bother Thomas. Effort and commitment cannot be questioned but wages I wouldn't consider paying him even at a percentage. There is players out there with some decent scouting and coaching a lazy signing for me on the last management system. Remember when we had betsey on loan cooper said to sign him he would be the most payed and not the best player. For me the way his career gone he was always coming back to pools just a lot sooner than I thought let's give our own a chance on the reaming games severely players who have been wrote off have come on with the recent coaching unless decisions have been already made.

The sub surface critic's love waiting for even the slightest downturn, real or imagined. They break cover like a flasher in a park, make up bizarre scenarios and whine like a jet taxiing for take off.
'Dontcha' just love em....actually...no.

How is suggesting that we really should not be climbing the highest mountain or swim the largest ocean to sign Luke James the most ludicrous statement every. Current loan spell 1 won goal in 18 appearances. Which was a penalty against an outfield player that he would not of been taking if we were not 3-1 up at the time and against 10 men. Since leaving and coming back he has scored 2 goals in 59 appearances, 1 for Peterborough in 32 possibly the most free scoring team in the country. I am not saying he does not contribute to the side at all. However other plays used in the preferred system of a front 3 have scored a single only. Even the much maligned Bingham playing in front of a second choice midfield and the aparrently slightly worse or not much better Oates have managed to score from open play. This is not because we have lost 2 games in a row. Hignett has done and is currently doing a fantastic job improving the side collectively and players individually. However if it was not little young Luke and someone from Crewe we were looking to sign with this record peoples opinions would be drastically different he is not 16 anymore he is 21.

If we have the opportunity to sign him I would in a heart beat, we've been a better team since he came here, his work rate and pressing alone are a valuable asset but his lack of goals is an issue and a fair point. His return in that regard is beyond poor in the last two seasons. He desperately needs a goal or two to get him going again.

I totally agree that results and performances have been better since he came but this coincides with the new management rejime. Were training now consists of working on fitness, team shape and a game plan and not playing cards, dominoes and who can get home the fast. Also the removal of an award of who can get through the game sweating the least. An award that was not always won by Trevor Carson. As has been said it's the manager who will have the final say on who stays and goes on what I have seen so far he is the best man we have had since John Hughes to decide this unfortunately he was not allowed to make the decisions he wanted and Hignett will be. James is not terrible just his output for a forward player does not make him a must get for next season. If a right side Nathan Thomas can be found somewhere I will take that man over Luke every day of the week. Players are out there to be found with a good scouting network and the right connections which I believe the current management set up will implement and have.

I suppose it depends on what level you expect Hignett to be able to guide the team to determines if certain players are good enough.

Good enough to keep us in league 2 every season or good enough to go to the next level?

goals win games........ your sterile logic indicates someone whose appreciation of the game is influenced by a life playing Subuteo.

I've been impressed with James work rate, his invention, his adaption to the role on the right, his willingness to track back aswell as get forward and support.

Of course if he had more goals it would be a bonus, but I'm not going to use his goal record against him when results have picked up since he's arrived.

Not sure why people bring up his record for Bradford or Peterborough, it means diddly now.

It's kids banter. Oh he hasn't scored enough therefore he is instantly shite and I hate him.

Being relatively new to this forum and I must admit to only being a Pool supporter since starting university 2 years ago, maybe I have missed the hierarchy aspect to which I must agree with you.

James has come here as a striker, agreed he has been a part of the team's recent success. We have been on Bingham's case all season, Bingham, if I'm correct, has only started one game under Hignett and has scored once in open play. James starts every week and was given a gift of a goal. Fine play James, but not as a striker, so in that respect I have been disappointed.

Now is that inaccurate?

And the cheap dig about the spelling and grammar, there were no spelling mistakes, predictive text let me down. By the way there are no spaces between punctuation marks and words, so check your grammar before commenting on mine....meow!!!

So......... Your definition of a 'forward' insists a player is measured solely on their goal tally. So do we disregard a players team contribution to the forward line, playing selflessly so others can score, we dismiss the 110% effort and assume that because the goals aren't flowing freely they're doing sod all.
So applying your logic a bone idle goal moocher banging in a goal now and then would float your boat.
Try seeing the big picture.

110% effort can immediately be dismissed.
