I'm only assuming here, but for a judge to quash the original conviction and allow a retrial, surely there must be some new substantial evidence that said judge must think strengthens the defence. With the judge being female also, I don't she'd of done that lightly.

I don't know the facts, so he could well still be found guilty but we'll see.
