Last night

Not one comment on the match so far, Higgy out surely....

Seriously, I actually think the forced changes and the defeat will be a kind of blessing in that Hignett is still learning about his players and will further cement who he will be retaining next year.

Would like us to now go and win at Morecambe Now mind

How did we play by the way sctatchinghead

Decent first half withPaynter having 2 good chances, we were tight at the back and solid in the middle, Featherstone in particular stood out for me.
2nd half they started strongly and got a goal, can`t remember how it went in, think it took a deflection and looped over Carson, Paynter went off injured and that was it, Bingham, the man who ducks and jumps at the same time, was inept, any goal attempts came from midfield, Hawkins in particular who stood out second half.
Walker came on for Gray and he kept attempting Hollywood passes and giving it away, we have a decent 12 players, after that we have fuck all in depth!

Cheers and a decent following for a midweek match.

Featherstone really is one player that has come on enormously under Hignett, quite easy when you get people to play to there strengths confised

One question though, you still seem to be sitting in the fence about Bingham bbolt

Excellent 1st half. 2nd we were decent without really threatening. Very impressed with Featherstone.

Really missed Thomas and Paynter (when he went off)

Next season we need a proper back-up for Paynter though.

Came away confident that if we can keep our best players and improve in one or two areas that we'll do well next season.

Heres my take on it.

We played pretty well really..could have scored twice in the first half, once after 40 seconds when after a great move Luke James turned in the box and shot about an inch wide with the goalie beaten. We continued to press them and just before half-time Billy Paynter made some room for himself to force a point-blank save (with his feet) from their keeper.

Second half they came into it..Carson pulled off another worldy a couple of minutes in, then their goal which was a Route One effort but it took a whopping deflection off Magnay to loop over Carson.

We still pushed on and to be honest with a BIT more forward-thinking play instead of the odd sideways "what do we do now" type-of-thing we should have done more...

BUT....without Thomas and Paynter we are desperately short. Our first 11 is great..but we've got bot-all else.

Oates isn't Thomas, and Bingham is CERTAINLY not Paynter.

One massive plus..The Fans, yet again.

I've not seen him play and am purely going on word of mouth but is anyone hoping to see Jack Blackford get a run in the team between now and the end of the season?

Is he actually any good or is he a mythical figure who exists just to play well in the ressies? A Steven Snaith if you will.

Seen as we're (presumably) safe, wouldn't this be a good opportunity to blood a wide player if Oates and Oyenuga aren't up to it?

I thought it was a poor game and 0-0 would have been a fair result. We have zero attacking threat when Thomas is not playing, oates is certainly not a left winger. Thought we lacked movement in final third and our midfield kept having to go back, a few more quality players in the summer and we could do well next season.

Watch him regular in the reserves, he is a better option than Oates on the left, 2 footed and quick, saying that though, I would play Jewson or Smith ahead of Bingham, at least you would get maximum effort :?
