Dear Mr Fireball, after being an avid reader of the Bunker and have always enjoyed the hints/ tips Bunkerites provide, I today have had a wander into TK Max ( at your advice) and bought 3 pairs of Duchamp socks for £7.99. The problem is one of the pairs is grey/lilac (depending on the light) and has flowers on them. The other 2 pairs are fine/cool. Are flowery socks cool? or should I bin them?

Yours in uncoolness, Mr Bishop

These socks should only be worn with Jesus sandals

Just put my latest Duchamps on - bright pink with grey heel and toes. Very snazzy and go nicely with my grey trousers and burgundy shoes.

I believe the 3rd pair in the pack also had flowers on but I will save these for Friday's.

Disappointed to hear about all these brogues. Boots are the way forward in winter/early spring. Am wearing some black Stance socks that have a nice thin band of red, gold and green and Redwing boots which are nice and shiny after an overnight treatment with mink oil. Any brogue wearers I meet today will be put firmly in the shade.

Right chaps and chapesses. I have decided to wear my flowery socks (still can't work out if they are grey or lilac) today. I am going to the pub, not just any pub, a rough pub, where I will proudly show off my socks and ask the local Neanderthals for their opinion. If you don't hear from me later..... the socks aren't cool and I'm in Hospital!!!! Wish me luck.

Men should never wear Flowery socks....apart from on Ash Wednesday!!!!

And any person found wearing Cartoon socks, underwear or ties are best avoided....after they have been given a slap like!!!! sadx

Novelty socks should be banned, they give out the message that you have given up and your only new sock intake is every Christmas or Fathers Day.

Today I'm wearing odd socks. From the same overall set, but one green and one red instead of their set pairings.

I'm guessing this won't be warmly received.

I've just seen somebody in Stockton town centre wearing white socks, formal black trousers and these.

Image

I don't know what is worse, the shoes or the white sock/black trouser combo.

Flesh coloured socks worn with sandals or boat shoes are the worst sock offence. Flesh coloured foot coverings are for hospital wear only.

I bought three pairs of, fetchingly gaily coloured, Pantherella "Fine English Socks" at TKMaxx today. Actually made in England, not Turkey like that other celebrated brand, for £4. They did have not one, but three red stickers on them (the only way to buy stuff from TKMaxx imho). As I live in Newcastle I'm spoiled for choice TKMaxx-wise with six shops within a 8 mile radius (even Cramlington has one). They also had some Duchamp socks for the same price but one of the pairs was too outrageously nancyish - even for me and I can nancy with the best.

monkeybutt, you do leave yourself wide open to mean jokes, innit.

I'm tempted, very tempted, but I'll resist, as information you gave on the Bunker a while ago led to me getting another point in a pub quiz.

Flowery sock update. They blokes think they are gay. The women think they are girly and would wear them. My Pink mate liked them and would wear a pair himself.

All in all due to the controversy I think I'll continue to wear them.

PS Mr C Fireball Esquire, they are the comfiest socks I've EVER worn, I thank you for the tip.

I've taken sockspiration from Simon Jones off Dragons Den, he is always sporting a decent pair.

Don`t really wear socks, however when I do it is a trainer sock, I don`t mean like an apprentice but a casual garb of man made fibre.

I`m off to TK this afternoon to peruse the hosiery section, I trust they have lo rise and utilise the wicking fibre process and of course a rolled over welt?

Good point Mr Mac and has given me an idea. We will pitch our trendy sock co. called Sockspiration to Mr Jones for 10%. He gets free trendy socks and we get loads of money. This time next year we'll be millionaires! Are you in?
