Like the sadly-no-longer-updated Framley Examiner. I swear one of the bloked responsible for it must have worked ay the Hartlepool Mail in the past.

I don't see the point meself. The first gig I went to was Ride in Boro. After two songs I couldn't really hear anything but bass notes as my ears were fucked.

Loud? You've never lived! Motorhead supported by Tank, Newcastle City Hall June 81. I've been to hundreds of gigs, in dozens of venues, but never experienced anything like the volume levels of that night. it actually hurt your brain!

I wouldn't claim that the Swans/Melt Banana double-header were the loudest gigs I've ever attended. I wouldn't even say they were close. But they both made a loud and lovely racket, and it was a fun night.

I've been to loads of loud gigs over the years but Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the arena seemed to tip my ears over the edge. Hearing Melt Banana without plugs in a tiny room like Cluny2 now means a constant high pitched whine, a bit like having to put up with the clown who stands behind me on the Mill House all my life.

I loved that Cluny gig (same night as Swans at Hoults Yard - a very fine very loud night!). It was obvious that some of the younger crowd hadn't seen MB before, and they were looking a little unsure when Agata appeared on stage with his face mask. By the end of the set they were hugging each other and shouting Best. Gig. Ever!

Very true! I was talking to Yasuko before the gig and she wasn't expecting anyone there because of the Swans gig. The place was rammed!
