The only change to last night's starting eleven that I would make would be to bring in Porter for Brown.

Ok then, the other alternative would be Porter and Proctor.

I think that there is potentially a good partnership between those two.

I am still of the opinion that Brown is too lightweight to start, in fact last night reinforced that.

But will we?

If Danny fines 'em thirty quid for every lob we will.
But I'd rather see Porter and Brown, if only to take the wind from the Daly knockers' sails!

It was the first time in a long time that the substitutions actually made an improvement. It seems that the days of throwing on Istead and Foley to rescue a game are well gone. You might start to believe that this feller has some tactical nouse..... :) :) :)

Unless you're overweight and deluded of course.....

I remarked on how mobile Jon Daly looked last night with the ball at his feet but you're right (for once) he's under the cosh when he's backing to win a header all the time. They'll just pick him off every time.

Think Rooney against Portugal.

Errmm.......no, don't..... :uhoh: :uhoh:

No, not necessarily. Point being would we have done anything else if he wasn't on the pitch?? It's too black and white to say Daly = Long ball game. There was plenty of ariel balls up to Brown as well. There was plenty of evidence of the one touch stuff in patches and that's what we all like to see but when you're getting closed down you have to kick the ball forward if there's no-one available. Hopefully as accurately as possible but we're only fourth division??

But surely it's the only channel ball youve got when you're a central midfielder up against five men like last night??

On reading DW's comments on the Mail website, I reckon it may well be the same team as last night. My preference would be Porter and Brown, but you can't knock Danny's substitutions in the last 2 home games can you?

I've got a feeling that young Liddle is a legend in the making even after a handfull of games. Thnk god we gave him a 2 year contract, eh?

That seems a bit of a kop out to me. They have 5 in midfield so we just knock it long?

I agree that sometimes you ned an "out" ball, but not all the time.

And if they have 5 in midfield there must be loads of space elsewhere.

But I dont agree with Chip about Daly. I think he is much better than that.

But he is no big target man.

No, and we didn't play it long through the middle all the time just sometimes. We played a lot of attractive down the wings stuff and they tried to stop us by packing midfield and closing down. And there is loads of space elsewhere and we tried to find it with the ball over the top, sometime to good effect and sometimes to bad.

Granted, Dimi had his shooting boots on again last night, but the reason Gibb didn't get much of a look in was because of the top quality stuff that Liddle and Robson were producing over our side.

Anyway, Scott out!!

I s'pose it would be too much to expect you to give Matty credit for playing well after you spent all last week trying to tell everybody how cack he is.

sorry Rip, Robson was the one black spot again. He needs scattering ASAP and a new/better left sided player should be brought in. If that means Brown and Daly up front with Porter on the left, so be it . The main thing is to GET ROBSON OUT OF OUR TEAM!!!!

Matty is ok. But you are describing his performance as if he is like the new John Barnes.

Sorry guys but he really wasnt THAT good.

That's him, yep, that's who I was trying to think of!!!

I spoke with Russ Green before the season started and he said the players all have year options on their contracts. This was before Liddle signed but chances are that it is a 2 year contract with a further years option. If so, it is even better!
