I'll be taking part in The Blaydon Race starts at 6pm from Balmras Pub in Bigg Market to Geordie Ridley Pub Blaydon. 5.7 mile!

Great race and great atmosphere (especially getting bricked by the little darlings gannin' alang Scotswood Road) Beats the Great North Run any day as it's cheaper to enter, not as far and not as many taking part!

Wish me luck in beating as many Geordies/Magpies as I possibly can!

Completed in 44mins 50 seconds.

Sorry I didn't run in Pools top but I elected for the tried and tested 118 gear once more and it seemd to go down well with the spectators including "the little darlings of Scotswood Road" and the drinkers outside the pubs on route, mind it was bloody hot under the mop top of the 118 running wig!
Ham'n' pease puddin stottie, black pudding, pickle onions, tripe and bottle of beer that was given away at the end didn't touch the sides!

I always fancied doing the Blaydon Race, but our youngest being born on the 9th June, 15 years ago, stopped that idea. I wonder if he would be bothered about me not being at home for his 16th next year? That's if I could actually get my self fit enough again to run 5.7 miles!!

Why not do the run, then take the laddo around the toon or along the quayside for his 16th birthday celebration?

I could draft you up a simple training schedule if you like, to enable you to finish the course in one piece. It's a great run to take part in and not too far!
